An intense inverted coaster in the classic B&M mold, Penumbra twists and weaves through a canyon, skirting waterfalls and river rapids. Enjoy!
Stats: Drop: 49 m. / 160 ft. Speed: 109 km/h - 67 mp/h Inversions: 7
This started out as a bit of a doodle to try my hand at making 3Ds for NoLimits. As you may be able to tell, I got a bit carried away. I might revisit this once I've learned to wrangle SketchUp a bit more reliably.
Technique: 9.75- the trackwork, modern B&M styling, and trueness a fun but quirky layout was great. Adrenaline: 9.5- Tall drop, fast speeds, low to the ground track, flybys, close calls, and tunnels intensified this ride. Originality: 10- While inverted coasters themed into trenches, tunnels, and ravines are nothing new, this completely fabricated landscape, with mist, tunnels, waterfalls and tight layout, gave for a really unique ride.
What can i say? I downloaded the coaster because it was so high rated and i wasn't disapointed. Absolut fantastic scenery great coaster kind of reminds me of Black mamba in Phantasialand Germany (one of my fav coasters). Realy an exceptional great coaster. Thanks
This track was easily the most intense experience I've seen in a long long time. I really loved how this ride was laid out - congrats!
Technical Pretty solid here - I do have a few complaints with some of the shaping (on the 2nd inversion - felt like it needed to invert more before the half loop) and some of the supports were lacking - especially in some of the turns. Otherwise the trakc was good - very smooth throughout.
The terrain and 3DS work was really really good - enough detail to make it interesting without murdering FPS rates! The 3DS never felt put in there for no reason and it really added to the theme of the ride!
Adrenaline This ride was crazy intense - the pacing was spot on throughout the ride and had plentiful near miss occasions, feet choppers and the rest of it! (including a cheeky fly by!) My only gripe is that it sort of sits between a too intense to be realistic but not quite enough to truly stand out against other fantasy rides. It's definitely up there however.
Originality This ride ooozed creativity throughout. The 3DS work was brilliant, the layout was unique and packed with surprises. It perhaps didn't have a centerpeice to make it stand out as such - but I felt the ride as a whole was its good enough to not need one!
- Technical - Well then, let's start with the track. The trackwork wasn't the best, but it was VERY good. The ride wasn't 100% smooth and the shaping seemed off in parts. Where were the heartlines on most of the ride? The motor of B&M Inverts should be at the bottom of the lift. The supports on your lift seemed a tad wide but it didn't really look like you could do much about that. The supports will combine into each other and use the same footer to hold themselves. B&M doesn't do that. They'll share the cement for footers but they'll never combine the steel of different supports. As said before this ride would probably need a transfer section somewhere. During a few parts of the ride you hit 5+ G's. Seeing as these are only for split seconds you might be fine but I don't think a B&M invert has done anything higher than 4.5-4.7 G on an invert.
- Adrenaline - This ride was fast and traveled what seemed like a great distance! The waterfalls and the water in general were simply fantastic. The only thing I can really think of that would impede are the recurring high forces. They get a bit extreme at times.
- Originality - The only real way to degrade your points on this was already said by Wishmaster. I will say a bit about what I liked though. The torches, the animated water, the scenery, the layout! Everything about this ride flowed well and really worked amazingly with each other. The ride was worth a few repeat rides and I really loved it!
------------------------ I have to say I didn't see it being as amazing as it was when I hit the download button, but I'm really glad I did! Great job!
Dang! That was a very good ride! I like how the 3d stone object interacted with the ride. The tunnel the flyby's the fog. It was really well planned out and built! The station looked killer. You have some nice 3d work in there and good trackwork as well. There was a couple of places which felt like it jerked up, but I will attribute it to my fps issues. Keep up the amazing work!
Wow! What a ride. If I was going to complain I would mention the lack of a transfertrack or the fact that the moving floor texture hasn't been changed (like Black Mamba @ Phantasialand or Katun @ Mirabilandia) but I don't know if that last one is even possible, and either way, those points aren't worth deducting point for.
T: I couldn't find much wrong with this. A very smooth ride, very realistic supports and I love how you used the rocks themselves as supports, something I see in my home park, Phantasialand, all the time.
A: I like all the close calls with the rocks and the waterfalls. The inline twist at the beginning disoriented me a bit, but I consider that a good thing.
O: Not really the most original, since most of the decorated rides are in valley/rock style. But since 90% of the rides out there aren't decorated at all, that still makes it better than most of the rides.
