I humbly present the first two tracks that I have finished in NL2: Demon and Vineta Junction. Demon is a small Schwarzkopf-style looper. With a drop height of just under 100ft, Demon is tucked away beneath the tree line for the majority of its 1500ft circuit. To spice things up, Demon features one reversed train and one forward train. Vineta Junction is a towering wooden monstrosity featuring drops of 200ft, high g-forces, and speeds in excess of 70mph. Vineta uniquely features two barrel rolls along its twisted 6500ft of track.
I??????ve listed this as fantasy because while I believe Demon passes as a realistic Schwarzkopf, Vineta contains some ??????impossible?????? elements for wooden track. I didn??????t consider realism as a significant factor when designing, I just wanted to play with the new editor. With that said though I believe the g-forces are kept in check. Vineta has some intense airtime, and the high-speed turn sustains 3-4gs consistently, but it??????s all within reasonable bounds in my opinion.
It??????s been a good while since I??????ve uploaded, and even longer since I??????ve began and fully completed a ride. Making these with the new editor has been an absolute joy. I hope to dig deeper into the new features with my next work.
I hope these are as fun to ride as they were to build!
Not sure exactly how to go about rating this, but I'm jsut going to put some thoughts down about both coasters then attach some general numbers to them!
Vineta Junction Things I liked: Big fun, the pacing for the most part felt good. I enjoyed the popst MCBR drop - that was nice. Had some nice airtime moments and the terrain interaction was good. The layout was clearly very unique.
Things that needed work: Lateral bracing on the overbanks need to be higher to actually give support to the wooden structure there.
There were a lot of points with snappy trackwork, and also a lot of your trackwork seemed to weave about when it felt like it needed to be straight - I felt like you didn't have full control over where you wanted the track to go.
MCBR needed to be lower - it struggled in and pretty much got pulled by the friction wheels. Ideally you don't want friction wheels on a MCBR on any ride.
The positives were definitely too high on this ride. Shouldn't be looking at much over 3.25G for a woodie I think.
Demon Things I liked: Again very unique, and I liked how you kept it compact. I loved how you set it into a little valley with all the trees around it and I think the layout was definitely decent if not very good - you just needed to work on the execution of the ride really. Supports seemed decent bar the lift support that had no lateral bracing!
Things that needed work: Trackwork mostly, the track was quite bumpy and very pumpy. Try to work on getting radii more consistent throughout the turns. The turnaround was a particular case you could look at. Some of the banking felt quite odd too and probably needed smoothing out.
