Blink is a short side project I made. I found the track laying around on my Hard Drive so I thought I would complete it, and I'm happy with the results. It was one of the first tracks I made in NL2 but I spruced it up a bit and fixed a few things. The environment is from Kyle Sloane's Heretic, because it looks damn nice.
Anyway, enjoy! What you have here is a ride that's short and sweet, about a minute long.
Please shoot a comment or even a rating and I'll see you guys next time!
Nice ride it is simple but delivers some good speed and inversions! T. I noticed some inversion and curves that were too tight and other parts were a bit stretched out but was smooth and with a good speed A: I liked the launches but needed a better pacing R. it wasn't really prone to realism but is was ok, not the best support but i liked the colors RV I had a good experience! nice job!
I would have to agree with you craig, the environment is way too awesome not to want to use. The are a couple things that i want to mention to you. 1. Did you heart line the ride when you constructed it? 2. The part before the FBR is a little rough for my taste, but I don't know if that was intended or if you did that on purpose. I personally have never been on an actual Mack launch ride, so I do not know if it is like that completely. Nice ride and congrats on being part of the 25th NL2 Round Up.
This ride was really cool and really liked the different elements especially that quick barrel roll thingy athough it whip my neck but so do older Vekoma Arrows. Overall I loved diving in and out of the tunnels and the ride lasted quite a few 'blinks' of my eyes LOL. Great work.
Technique Trackwork - There were some good efforts and shaping throughout the ride but this was certainly an area that could of been better! The turns that were underground in the final section seemed pretty good to me for instance!
The thing I noticed most was the banking on a lot of your turns. In some cases the banking didn't seem to flow with the track which might be due to tweaking the track without going back and altering the banking! I also saw several cases where the track was banked too much- especially whilst pulling up into a element.
The ride also had its fair share of bumpyness - for instance I felt you could have worked on the entrance to the lower part of the first element. It felt like it wasn't linked with the first half of the element. The second flatspin and the final section also felt a bit rough.
Supports - Your ride was supported enough throughout and it would've definitely stood the test of time! I did like the look of most of your supports too however again there were some things I felt you could of worked on.
For instance you had the weird box frame on the non-inverting loop which definitely needed some properly lateral support, especially at the point where it connected to the track.
I thought the low turn with all the supports gave a very interesting profile to the trackwork, it was a pretty cool effect to be honest. Having all those supports actually connecting to the ground was a bit overkill though!
Scenery - I liked that you made the effort to include the pathways in and around the ride - they could've used some improving but good job on putting the effort into making there. It might've been worth creating some support-made queue lines and such! The terrain was nice and I liked the addition and interaction of the small pond at the start of the ride and the sweeping turn around the circular part of the river.
Adrenaline Pacing / Layout - The ride did feel like it had a good amount of pace due to dipping in and out of the trees. I think the tunnel use and low turns were really good and added to the adrenaline of the ride a lot. My favourtie bit I think was the sweeping turn after the second flatspin. It had good speed and forces and the interaction with the surroundings was good! The non inverting loop was a nice addition too and I think certainly helped add to the ride.
Layout wise I felt it a bit odd you had one of the highest elements as the hill into the brake run - I don't think that was needed and you could have perhaps had a different high element in another section of the ride. The final launch was perhaps not really needed either and I think it would've helped your pacing if you had just used the rest of the track efficiently rather than launching it to the end.
Forces - Forces were alright throughout - my major complaint here was the laterals seemed extreme and a lot of the time pushed the ride towards the center of a turn rather than out of the side (which is more uncomfortable in my opinion and should be avoided). The non inverting loop had some nice floater airtime which certainly added to the ride however!
Uniqueness Layout / Elements- I thought the ride layout was very unique and had some nice additions here and there. The non inverting loop was a nice surprise nand the way it was implemented was interesting and different to what I was expecting.
The whole "launch when the train loses a bit of speed" is kind of growing tired now as everyone is mimicking Helix so perhaps straying away from that would've helped your uniqueness score.
Scenery - Again I'm glad you added in the paths and such round the coaster cause it added a little bit to your ride. I felt that the ride didn't have too much to set itself completely apart scenery wise and the overall aesthetic of the ride did feel quite mack terrain looper-y.
Realism
Tech/Adren/Uniq - Final note about realism would be your entry to the brakes - I felt like it would've been more realistic to not have the little turn into the brakes and just alter the final run into the station.
Supporting scenery - As mentioned in the above categories good job on adding some paths - next job is to go forward and add in queue lines and routes to access the launches in case of e-stop etc. etc.!
Buildability - I think you did a pretty good job on making this ride feel buildable. It wasn't overly large or cumbersome and the ride stayed within reasonable limits throughout.
Likeness to manufacture - I think you definitely captured the essence of Mack Terrain looper so good job with that. Any improvements have already been covered in other sections!
