Hi. I don't know how many people here remember me. Sorry, it's been a long time since I was here.
This track is not finished. I started it back in 2008 and had big plans, but life got in the way and it was never completed. I did a little work off and on, but came to the conclusion that I probably won't complete it. However, I didn't want to just throw it away, so I uploaded it here anyway - despite its being unfinished.
-No tools used on the track work, so expect some bumpiness. Plus it was made quite a while ago, so I am sure advancements have been made in building technique since then. -Supports were never fully completed, especially near the bottom, but you get the idea from looking at the rest of it what it would have looked like once it were done. -No need to rate. As I said, it's not finished. Feedback is fine, but I'm certainly not expecting numbers. -The idea was based off of a commodore 64 game from a long time ago. I guess I even started to do a little theming on it before I abandoned it. -I included a few screen shots.
In case you are unfamiliar with it, the premise of the game involves people living in huge trees (grunds) who run around on branches and climb vine ropes and even glide through the air, using a special garment or jacket (shuba) which always somehow ends up getting torn. They live in houses (nids) and have stores and all kinds of government buildings in the branches. I know it sounds stupid, but I used to play it at my grandparent's house and it was fun at the time.
You guys are too kind. I am really sorry it wasn't fully completed. but I hope you liked it. Thanks so much for taking the time to drop a few comments!
I have trouble with fantasy rides, so I'm rating this under the assumption that your tree supports are adequate. Very interesting concept you have here though.
I'm a bit baffled by your trackwork, primarily the banking nodes you used. You have tons of them set to strict banking, and I'm not really sure why. The new building system is far superior to the old one when you figure out that you make your element perfect once you place some track after it. I tinkered in the editor and was able to fix some heavy jerks by "un-stricting" the banking and making some minor deviations from the games auto-banker feature. Also when you have rolls and stuff, you don't need to unbank all the way to zero and then start banking in the reverse direction. You could always unbank to like 10 degrees instead of zero to lessen the rotation a bit.
Also it looked like you had straight section strict track nodes every other node in areas for some reason. Did a tool force you into that? I don't quite understand the logic in that. These sections make it really difficult to smooth out the track.
Your textures didn't attach right so look into that. I'm struggling with the same problem as well right now.
If you choose to revisit this concept, maybe make the track go 3/4 of the way up the tree instead of to the very top. That way you have an excuse to have thicker branches. Also you know you can make a customized really huge pipe instead of having a bunch of small ones right next to each other right?
Please don't take the rating personally and remember 5 is average. Just something is up with that trackwork and I suspect a tool forced you to do something bizarre.
EDIT: Sorry about the tool comments, I didn't realize you were dealing with NL1 construction.
Technique: Not as smooth as I expected, but it's really wonderful to see a million of tree roots used as symbolic supports that present this track! I had a feeling that the inversions were much smoother than the transitions were.
Adrenaline: I did have a blast riding through loopy elements bar some winding turns that would definitely give riders a lot of pain.
Originality: Sounds perfect, even for an indoor big thrill! I of course loved the ride name ''Below The Root'' too, for some personal reasons!
Technique: You says it by yourself, it's not completed. So, despite that, it's a great ride ! A bit rough on turn and on inversion but still great made.
Adrenaline: I would love to says it's the tree of life in a coaster way. I didn't give you higher mark because of the things missing on it. But i like it. I feel the drop very nice but they are in my way too many inversions.
Originality: It's a kind of ride i would love to say it's original. The tree of life in a coaster way. Up in the sky, you feel free and you like a bird flying trough the sheet of a tree. Love the idea. A kind of Avatar ride that Disney could add to Pandora i think. But they'll have to add more detail on it.
