This coaster was my entry into the 2015 PA-Community contest.
The contest was to create a ride that would fit into the the line up at Thorpe park, I decided to go with something fairly unique that had been floating around in my head for quite some time now, a multi launch RMC coaster.
I chose the I-Beam track on this instead of the Topper Track simply because since it's a concept/a would-be prototype, I feel that the I-beam track would probably hold up to the forces of the launch and such better than the topper track, and since it would be a prototype, you would play it safe.
I advertised this as the world's first Launched wooden coaster. While the I-Beam RMC's are usually considered steel coaster, this is Merlin we're talking about, the same company that tried to advertise Thirt13n as "The scariest experience imaginable", so I would believe they would try to advertise something like this as a wooden coaster.
I feel I could have done a lot better with the track work, this coaster was one of the last ones I made in FVD using my old method/before I got better, so I'm not a fan of how a lot of the transitions came out
Thanks to TallonD83 for the car textures.
Stats: -Height: 44 m / 144 ft -Speed: 98 kmh / 61 mph -Length: 1212 m / 3976 ft -Inversions: 3 --Zero-G Stall --Dive Loop --Zero-G Roll
Edit: The Swarm, Stealth and Tidal Wave are just background objects since this is supposed to exist in Thorpe Park. Ignore them when rating.
Fantastic ride man, seriously... probably the one of, if not, the best RMC coaster on the exchange! For starters, the first little launch section into the outward banked turn wasn't really necessary, I feel like you probably wanted to get a pre-launch section in there before the main launch but, maybe a small bunny hill or another outward bank would've made more sense. Other than that, this ride was great, I liked the little details you incorporated throughout the scene... Iron Outlaw would definitely be an award winning coaster in real life!
Nice layout. I didn't expect launch 2. But it was fun! No really. Did I forget one more launch? Yes I did. 3 launches! I love launch coasters. I wish they made this in real life!
Wow, this is an incredible track! First off, The name and the logo: Monster Jam! Definitely not a bad thing, half the time I search for videos of Outlaw Run, I end up typing Iron Outlaw because he's one of my favorite trucks. Starting this coaster out with the outwards banked hill, was impressive, I love seeing those elements, even though I think there's only 3 of them in existence at this moment. (May be wrong.) But the launch into the Zero g stall looks incredible and it's supported very well. The rest of the track has the curvy, twisty elements that RMC is known for and I think this track really shows it. Really the only grey areas I found we're the pacing on some of the elements, even though Iron Rattler is a crawler, considering this is launched, maybe the pacing could be a tad faster. Some of the supports don't look like they're even connected. Those are really my only complaints. Fantastic Job!
Such a fantastic coaster. Everything about this was perfect in my opinion. I thought most of the transitions if not all were pretty much spot on, so despite you feeling not too thrilled on some end results, I felt it was really well done. Loved the launch into the coolest element ever, and from that point on the ride DID NOT disappoint. It kept it's adrenaline and thrill. It was very realistic especially in the trackwork/movements these RMC's tend to have. Great Technique. High Adrenaline for sure. Extremely unique in execution, and the rider value is above and beyond perfect. I wish it were real.
On the other rides (not affecting rate):
I actually really enjoyed the idea of how you integrated this into Thorpe Park. Maybe if you're planning on possibly expanding this, I would love to see a slightly more fleshed out version of The Swarm (right?), Stealth, and the water ride in this park. It could become something even more spectacular.
Probably one of the top 10 favorite NL2 downloads I have thus far. I will definitely keep coming back to it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this track. It felt like it could actually be an addition to Thorpe Park! I especially liked the viewing area for that zero-G stall.
Minor issues: some of the supports didn't fully connect with the track (I'm running 2.1.0.0 Professional, if that helps); the Swarm recreation in the background collides with the ground and has a big honkin' footer in the middle of the station, right in the way of the right side.
The outward-banked turn at the beginning I really liked. A bit intense, though; maybe tone down the launch before it? Also, not sure if downward launches are practical.
On the Iron Outlaw, the ride was basically perfect, when run from the normal automatic mode. However, the realism and technique suffered from a pretty significant glitch, in my opinion. On the launch track, the ride will accelerate normally, but when thrown into E-stop, and back, the ride will accelerate the car backwards! I think this is rather unrealistic, and the outward banked element would have likely been a brutal one from the perspective of those aboard. However, the track and other coasters were marvelous. How did you get the track to be that realistic?
Thanks, the reason I choose the 4 seater trailered trains is because they are the closest thing to the actual trains RMC use in game. I kind of agree with the outward bank thing at the beginning, I wanted to try and have something like the pre lift section of Twisted colossus but turned up to 11, though in hindsight, I think I may have overdone it.
i love the realism in this coaster, the plants, walkways, stores, it makes it look like a real park. looks like it should already be in a park. the coaster itself is awesome, very smooth, i like how it hugs the terrain and does a bunch or sharp turns, you don't know where its going next. the launch was a cool idea, and im not faulting you on it but i would like to see this ride with lift hill, i just think it a lift hill would have looked better and brought some more excitement as there are no launched RMC coasters, but still its cool. the next thing is the really sharp bank after the first launch leading into the main launch, i don't like it, but i could see what you were getting at, but that's just my opinion. The biggest thing that bothered me that i could not get over was the cars you used, i don't know why you choose those cars over the timberliner cars that look way cooler for this track but im sure you had your reasons. i had to go in a change it and i like it alot better. over all this is an amazing coaster that's why i gave you a high rating. The lay out is awesome, the scenery and the supports just add so much to the ride and i would love to see this as a real coaster one day. i just cant express how well done this coaster is, all i can say is keep making tracks, your really good.
Wow, awesome job! It seemed a little slow in some spots, but overall, it was an exciting ride that also looked great visually, especially with the scenery. The launches were pretty unique even though I feel we'll probably start seeing them on real RMCs. Really couldn't find anything wrong with it. Keep up the great work.
