Track Description
Maestrale

Maestrale is a classic Arrow looper crossed with the large elements and smoothness of a modern B&M. Maestrale gets its name from the Italian word for mistral. A mistral is a strong, cold wind that blows down from the Alps North of Italy. This inspired a large looping coaster with large elements and sweeping curves to emulate the wind blowing down from the mountains. Riders begin their ride with a 163 foot lift hill that drops into a 130 foot vertical loop. Rider are then swept into a dive loop that wraps around the base of the lift. Following the dive loop is fast overbank turn through a series of close encounter elements. Then, the coaster gracefully dives over the station and through two keyhole elements in a zero-G roll. After a brief pause at the mid course brake run, Maestrale then dives down over the water into a batwing element. Continuing over the water following the batwing is a corkscrew into the twisting finale of the coaster.

This coaster was created for the 2016 CC NL2 Tournament Round 1 and took 2nd place. The goal was to create a coaster that combines a manufacturer that you are comfortable working with and one you aren't familiar with. For my entry, I chose to combine B&M and Arrow as a 'what if' kind of coaster. The end result is a combination of Arrow's trains and typical elements and B&M's smoothness and simpler support style.

Maestrale statistics:

Height: 163ft
Length: 4,268ft
Max. Speed: 65 mph
Inversions: 6

Elements:

Vertical loop
Dive loop
High speed overbank
Zero-G roll
MCBR
Batwing
Corkscrew
Twisted airtime hill

Note: The forces in the back of the train off of the MCBR can be considered strong. If needed, the MCBR can be set to trim some speed. However, I prefer stronger forces and no trim. Therefore, I left it as is.

This coaster was a lot better than I expected it to be. It's kind of like Tennessee Tornado-style modern Arrow Dynamics coaster, but expanded. It's pretty smooth, not perfect, but certainly good for an Arrow looper. And it's pretty realistic while still being unique. The supports aren't great, though. They seem like the basic prefabricated supports, but an Arrow coaster wouldn't use those supports. The layout is really good and it's a pretty long ride. The head-choppers really added a lot to the ride, even if they were a bit random-looking, with one of them being Gatekeeper's keyholes. The station was fantastic, and the queue line was nice. So this was a great ride, and I can't wait to see more!
