This is my entry to the 2015 $100 coaster creator challenge. would have liked to make more of this park but no time. The woodie Rampage is a GCI twister that was inspired by Renegade. B&M's first Corkscrew Coaster, its a dive coaster with a twist. Rockslide is a LIM launch coaster that has 8 inversions and spells LOOP if you look at the right angle. Koho Jettokosuta, meaning backwards roller coaster in Japanese, is a TOGO hyper coaster featuring backwards trains, and is my first TOGO. I hope you enjoy!
**please read the contest rules! The TOGO had to be backwards for the contest and they have made backwards coasters before. The dive coaster had to be short, under 750 feet long. and the clearances E-breaks and G's have all been ok'd already by Mikey.***
T: Your track work was mostly acceptable, but it had its flaws. For example, Rockslide needed better banking. Several instances sustained lateral Gs that you simply wouldn't expect to see on that type of ride. The E-stop failed because I was able to get the launch to hurtle the train backwards into the station after disengaging the e-stop. Corkscrew's inversions should have been inline twists. The heartlining actually made the lateral Gs hit as high as 2.8, so this thing would've hurt in real life. Rampage was probably one of your better rides and captured the stylings of an older woodie. Koho wasn't build badly either. The one thing that all the coasters needed improvement on was either the abundance or the type of supports.
A: Well, Koho was a neat ride with it being backwards. Corkscrew was painful from the lateral Gs. Rockslide was probably the most fun with its speed and plentiful inversions. Rampage was in a close second place.
U: The park was somewhat unique, and the only rides which showed substantial ingenuity were Rockslide and Koho.
R: For the most park this was realistic.
RV: I think a visit to this park would be okay, but I wouldn't consider it among someone's personal top ten.
Hey thanks for the review! i'll give you mine. So, my favorite was RAMPAGE great ride and nice solution over the queue! feels really natural and classic maybe just a bit short. The CORKSCREW was really odd but i guess was the hardest to make believable... in this case riders would really feel the pain in their ribs!!!supports were a bit lazy it could have been done better. what I liked about THE ROCK SLIDE was the safety block system definitely more realistic that what i did... what i didn't like was the layout... inv after inv with no change of direction for the first half, the first element and other bits of track felt under supported. You could have taken more advantage of the terrain for this ride. KOHO JETTOKOSUTA I think it was a well made TOGO, really nice parts close to the ground! definitely the most intimidating!!
Hundred Dollar City overall is a great park in a nice open environment filled with big attractions and and nice extras like the entrance and fences!
T: Not much it complain in this category. The biggest problem I came by were the lateral G's in the crazy dive you've build. I like how you've solved the issue of the length you'd had to use. But having that extra roll and inversion was imo unnecessary. Now the rotational speed was too high resulting in those increasing laterals going from 2g lats all the way up to 3g. The Togo looked pretty good on shaping. The only thing I would have changed was the angle of the helix. Most of the Togo helixes slowly increase speed. Yours kept it on the same speed. The final thing I'd like to point out was the complete stop on the Premier LIM. Although the train did a complete stop, there were no clamp brakes. With magnets you just can't do a complete stop. You'd need something that provides friction on the train to full stop the train.
A: You've did a nice job in here. GCI flew great through it's course. Some great quick transitions and some really nice airtime. I liked it! The togo was a great surprise, fun and surprising layout. Although as mentioned in the previous category. It would have been better if the train actually increased speed in the helix part. Dive coaster looked weird and was even weirder to ride. Loads of hangtime but those lateral g's in the outer seats were just too killing and uncomfortable. Decreasing the rolls with one was probably enough to make it a lot more tolerable. Also it took like forever before I could get off the ride. Final up was the Premier LIM. It was fun but personally I would have loved to see less back-to-back inversions and a bit more elements. It felt now a little too much as reaching the inversion goal and then just ride over some gentle hills and turns to the finish.
U: Most of the points scored here, mainly caused by the Togo surprise and the weird design for the Dive Coaster.
R: You've lost most here. Where you might have gotten points for that weird design of the dive coaster, you've lost them there. Laterals were intolerable and I'm not even sure if the ride would be able to hold up with the missing support at one of the rolls. Also as earlier mentioned in technical part you've lost as well points here for the missing clamp brakes at the complete stop from the Premier LIM. IRL it's impossible to stop a train with the magnets only, you'd need friction for that.
RV: In overall this was a pretty nice park. I had fun on most of the rides with the Togo and GCI as top 2 best rides. The LIM did feel like it was missing something after that bunch of inversions.
Koho seemed to have ok trackwork, but had some awkward banking, which I assume you did on purpose. It's supports were good for the most part, but at times you seemed to be a bit lazy and placed the same support many times. This ride kind of killed your adrenaline tho, considering the ride was pretty forceless and there was a hugely boring helix that just wasn't needed.
Corkscrew was a bit sketchy because of the lack of supports and the crazy lats, but it was pretty good considering the tough requirements.
Rockslide's trackwork seemed ok apart from the cobra roll which had too much lats, but the supports seemed pretty good. I just thought this ride didn't have a great layout (two vertical loops in a row for me is a turn off) and there were some dull spots at the end.
Rampage probably was the parks best coaster. The layout was creative, the forces stayed in check, and it even had good scenery.
Overall, I liked the vibe this park created. The coasters were well placed and the scenery was pretty good for a contest entry.
Sorry for the not too descriptive rating, I would have loved to go more in-depth with this park, but I don't have much time on my hands
Realism- Overall park was pretty realistic, the Premier LIM was a bit over the top for length because I don't believe any park would risk making one that long. The arrow trains backwards was a bit much for its size. People would have complained for sure.
Technique- For the amount of time given for this contest, I thought the trackwork was very good! The Dive coaster needed work, but because of the circumstances of the contest, completely understandable. The arrow hit the MCBR too early in my opinion. There should have been at least one more main element before it.
Adrenaline- The coasters were fast, fun, and decent, which makes the adrenaline good!
Uniqueness- Especially because of this contest, the coasters were unique, but the arrow was definitely unique as well!
Rider Value- This is a great line up of coasters for a new park, and the park could definitely expand and make their line up even better!
I really liked the TOGO. The supports of all the coaster were great. The dive machine coaster with the heartline rolls had red lateral gs. but all the other coasters had good gs and great layouts.
The dive machine was undersupported on one area.
I thought all of the coasters had thrilling layouts. Even the togo had some ejector airtime.
I though that this park provided great value to me. I would reride everything except the heartlined dive machine coaster.
