Way to focus ONLY on its problems. However, I do agree with all of those except the portable movie player: there is no way that the iPad is too large. It's a half an inch thick! I can guarantee you that it's much, much lighter than any of the other portable movie players out there (with the exception, of course, of the mp3 players that happen to also play movies). Plu the iPad's screen is an inch or two larger than any of them, and it's of a much higher quality. Please, open your eyes and see that behind its problems lies a device that has amazing potential, and even now is extremely nifty. |

^What potential? I mean, if I use this as a portable device, I want to be able to use it in the train, in public. Walking around with this is just crazy. Its to big for whats its made for. Since there are LOTS of cheap MP3 players these days which play movie there is no need for this in my eyes.
My biggest point is, they present it as a big, new thing. IT's not, it's just not. It's a larger version of the Ipod Touch. If they wanted to make it bigger, one inch, maby two would have been enough. THen I could still use it as MP3 player on my bike. |

| Apple has a history of stealing technology. A great deal of iPod technology was stolen from Creative Labs, and less criminally they took an idea that Xerox came up with and "ran with it" before Xerox did. |

^ wikipedia citations = FAIL!!!
My prediction is that the Ipad will fail because its unneccessary and to expensive for the average home user to justify the cost. It's also to akward to carry around with you. Could be fun for the kids when you go on long car rides, but then again maybe not. It would depend on how well it plays back movies installed onto the ipad. But if you're going to be putting movies on it then it will require you to pay even more for larger hard drive space (or alternatively you can constanstly swap out your movies). But I think it the end I feel that Mac is asking to much for something that nobody really needs or particularily wants all that bad. |

Ok, this to the people who keep saying, "what, no camera on the Ipad???". Who the hell in their right mind would be like, picture time, let me grab my NOTEBOOK sized Ipad to take pictures! It would be utterly stupid looking, completely hysterical. Honestly, think that one through. Yes, a "webcam" on the front would be nice for chatting, but a camera on the back to take normal pictures would be downright ridiculous. |

| About the webcam...the iPad has Bluetooth support. No doubt somebody's going to create an app that supports bluetooth webcams. I would do it, but I don't know enough about programming to make it work. |

| ^Exactly, haha. But being the Apple fan boy he is(he said he was himself, not just calling him out), he can't seem to grasp the concept that there is already something out there with everything he wants built in. A laptop... |

| Yeah, I know, I know...but most laptops don't have multitouch interfaces, and the ones that do suck. I suppose my point here is that it's going to be a while before you get the best of both worlds here. True, Apple should have made this the best of both worlds, but they didn't, and it's a bit disappointing, but at the same time, it's not the end of the world that it isn't complete yet. Updates are really wonderful. |

Try to use a Windows tablet with the software designed for a keyboard and mouse interface. You almost can't It's next to impossible to precisely use it...............
So what is different about the iPad that is going to make programmers all of a sudden want to program software to be compatible with a touch display???? Nothing. Using software on the iPad will be just as useful as a damn tablet PC. As you said, next to impossible. |

The difference of the ipad vs. tablet PCs is the fact that it's OS is designed for multitouch! That was calawaypark's point!

The prospect of making a lot of money for relatively little work, and the work they do is fun (for them). My dad know someone who programmed an app for the iPhone and he made $50,000 in the first 8 months, and said app was only a $0.99 app! |
