Orchard is a mine train I've been working on for probably the span of a half a year or so, really on and off during the summer and then more persistently these past two months. I guess I didn't plan it out to be any specific style but I definitely had Vekoma inspirations in mind which you may notice. It's pretty landscaping oriented with a few surprises here and there.
If you're expecting to be thrown this way and that, you shan't expect it much longer. It's a family based ride, the forces seldom get up to the 3 range and the airtime never reaches anything too serious.
Thanks Ian for the water.
So enjoy the ride and the trippy puddles and ice caps melting across my splash pond.
now i was able to get a copy of track packager so its time to rate:
the coaster its really well buildt its quick and fun its completly buildable in real life and would make a really fun family coaster also y like the final splash in the water element
I was fooled by the vertices. In that case, I say AHG everything including the lift top sections, to hide the fact that you only used one segment for a hill top and ignored the fact that you should have done a better job with leadins/leadouts there
But yeah you can ignore the Newton references then for now. Consider them later though should you start to work with Newton.
Hey man, I really like this ride. Your layout was very impressive and that, along with the overall realism of the track, set it apart from other tracks for me. I think you're a real good designer and expected no less.
Shaping overall looked good, though I didn't like that you didn't keep your building technique consistent through the entire ride...you had a turn or two, plus the top of one of the lifts, where you handbuilt, which isn't a great idea. Stick to one or the other. I liked how you had some real drawn out transitions that tightened right at the end, like with some of the turns. That shows me you controlled Newton for the most part and made it do what you wanted it to do. Pacing throughout seemed just right for this kind of ride, and I will rate relative to the amount of forces and excitement I expect a family mine ride to have.
One thing I didn't like was the terrain around the second half of the ride. It was very obvious you shaped the terrain around the track, and that hurt the realism for me. Also you should've spent a bit more time with the far side of your lake, as you had a lot of flickering going on there. One track design suggestion would be to maybe consider, instead of the B&M flat water splash section, try having a small hill or something there, maybe even a flat S curve, to mix it up. With the little hill, you could have two splashes, and with the S curve, you could have a splash on one side of the train, then the other. Just some other ideas to help originality.
But yeah overall well done, and I look forward to more from you. Good luck!
This is my first rating, so I apologize if I don't rate properly.
T: + very smooth track that is definitely family friendly
+ The supports are pleasing to the eye and realistic
A + the second lift hill next to the first lift hill was slightly intimidating because it was higher
+ Having a train on both lift hills made the ride a little more thrilling
+ The scenery really added thrill
O: + A unique family coaster
+ Scenery was placed nicely (I really liked it toward the end with the dips and turns)
Overall, I would love to ride this ride. If I were to ride it in real life it would probably be my favorite family coaster because of the slight thrill, smoothness, and scenery. I congratulate you on your work!
