Wood Coaster(Mountain Flyer) was built by Great Coasters International at Knight Valley in, OCT East, Shenzhen, Guangdong China. Wood Coaster opened on July 19, 2011, and was China's tallest, fastest wooden roller coaster. Wood Coaster features a tripple-down first drop, station fly-by, station fly-through, and 80?? of banking.
Plantoris's Notes : I wanted to recreate a coaster i will most likley never get to ride for real. I chose Wood Coaster because I love GCI's and this one is very unique. I have never been to this coaster so my only reference was POV videos and pictures. So after about 9 months of on and off work its finaly finished. I have enjoyed making and riding it and I hope you also find enjoyment.
This is THE wooden coaster! Everything about it is dazzling. It's so good, I'd almost take a vacation in China to ride the real one. If you're looking for an example of the best work available in No Limits 2, this one is a good candidate. This is virtual roller coaster greatness.
Trackwork Accuracy: The trackwork is great! I noticed that the top of the lift hill is a bit off but the rest is well recreated. By the way, your trackwork on any GCI you did is FANTASTIC! We can feel that GCI touch in the layout, it's awesome (but not easy to do)! Congrats!
Pacing Accuracy: Nothing to say, it looks like the real ride.
Attention To Detail: The whole thing is very well done. I liked to see these wooden planks on the track. However, I noticed some missing supports (bracing, structural supports,...) Also, it would have been awesome if the support work was all hand-made, but I know it would have taken years, so don't take that in account.
Scenery Accuracy: The scenery is very well recreated. Some rock work would have been needed to make the cliff (near the top of the lift hill & the first drop). Also, the 3D objects need some NL2MAT to make the textures real.
Degree of Difficulty: Of course, the difficulty on that one recreation is worth a 10!
Hats off for this one! What an amazing recreation!
Trackwork Accuracy: I compared this to a POV on Youtube and it was almost exactly the same! Only thing I noticed was that in some places, your transitions felt a tiny bit quicker but these are just minor details!
Pacing Accuracy: Again almost the same for the first 3 quarters of track. After that, yours seemed to slow down a bit more than the real ride.
Attention to detail: Great job on recreating the environment and models of the station etc. I did however miss some of the bracing on the lateral support structure is some of the curves.
Scenery Accuracy: Like I said above, great job on creating the station and pathway along the entrance. The supports on the tunnel were really nicely done too! It looked exactly like the real thing!
Degree of Difficulty: A GCI Mountain Flyer must be one of the most difficult roller coasters to recreate and you did a tremendous job on it! I can see why it took so long!
Feel free to comment if you disagree on anything. I never rode the coaster myself and probably never will so my rating is purely based on the pov and images I found.
