[Dive] Grind 360

by craigster001 · NoLimits Coaster 2 · Aug 11th, 2014
Description
My creation for the Tight fit B&M dive machine contest. This is a unique model of dive machine, and includes a 'Grinding Turn', a turn where you grind on the side of a wall, and not one, but two launches, one which will send you flying into the action, and one which will send you into the darkness.

Really liked this track. A compact-B&M Dive launcher? Something like that. Thought the layout was interesting and exciting. For the MCBR I wasnt too thrilled with how abruptly the coaster stops and starts several times. I thought it dropped the realism and would be awkward while riding. But other than that I thought the ride was really cool. I even liked the slight banking for the turns before you enter back into the station. If you're sitting on the far right side it seems to kinda throw you around at the end. Seems like a last bit of excitement before you leave the coaster.

Also, there seems to be one too many trains on this coaster. Not deducting points for that, but for such a short ride, the wait time to return to the station is about over half the length of the coaster (or so it seems). I don't really mind that at all, but for a coaster on No Limits, excessive waiting for things to get going is a little tedious to me. I guess maybe you were just showing that the coaster can hold that many trains circuiting at once. Just a sentiment though, not basing my ratings on that.

Awesome stuff!

Tech: Nice work with the supports, and track work. Passes clearance test by inches at times, which provides a nice thrill. Track work could have been a little better. Your laterals spike up over 1 a few times, which is something B&M generally tries to avoid. You passed e-stop by a hair and here's why: magnetic brakes cannot fully stop a train. You were saved by the pre-drop chain on the MCBR.

Adrenaline: I like how fast paced the ride is for the most part, however, it did lose pacing a couple of times.

Uniqueness: This is definitely out there. I like the idea of a launch, and the vertical drop into the tunnel was cool.

Realism: Let's face it, B&M isn't going to manufacture their own launch any time soon, and especially not on a dive machine. No use of B&M's staple elements, either.

Value: This is just the sort of thing the GP would eat up, along with small parks. Well done.

Liked although and third hill didnt believe required a holding brake for such a little angle and drop. Just needs some polishing.

Before I start let me say this is the first rating I've done in a very long time so bear with me.

Technique: Pretty solid here. good use of the space, great supports, mostly decent trackwork. Only major complaint I have here is the stacking issue. Even with the use of sperate load and unload you still sat the brakes for a decent amount of time.

Adrenaline: Even with the sluggish speed this is one of the best areas. The grinding wall foot chopper was neat, I'm not sure if it passes clearances but it seems like everything else was more than safe so I'm sure you double checked. stall before the tunnel portion is by far the best element on this ride

Uniqueness: Pretty much the same as Adrenaline, its realistic enough that B&M could do it while still holding its own

Realism: see technique

Ride Value: I see this as being a huge hit a small par which is was the objective of the challenge was
