Hi there. Haoya doin?

I got me a new ride! Ain't she purdy?

CONTORT

The ride starts with an 80 mph launch into an overbank-immelman hybrid. I just decided to have fun with it.

Image

Here's the same element from a less deceptive angle.

Image

Then it flies into a somewhat-steep-for-an-Intamin camelback.

Image

A quick transition into a wide turn follows.

Image

A floater gives some nice airtime after that long 3.2-G turn.

Image

Then it sails into this weird lookin thing.

Image

With a final turn into the brakes.

UPDATE

I guess I'll just edit the post because nobody has given me feedback[:(!]

My supports are finished. I put tubular supports where necessary. Take a looksee!

I put them in for two reasons. It seems that Intamin is using them a lot more, not only on I305 but quite a few are on Cheetah Hunt as well. I also did it because this is my first NL project in two years, and my first one ever that's more than just a track and supports. It was kind of a self-exam. Ya know, just to see if I could.

I like the idea of a compact(ish) rocket layout. It looks more thrilling than some actual intamin rocket layouts. I'd ditch those square supports too, or at least fix them. They're sorta the wrong shape, it looks like. Also, not a fan of the colors, but the tracking looks pretty good.

I've got the trains, textured and colored. They look pretty sexy, if I do say so myself.

Looks best in that silver/gray. How are supports coming along?

I've decided that I'm not changing them. Yes, they're a little on the fat side (and a couple are a little too wide), but I finished them the way they are after about 3 attempts after experimenting with Construction Kit and how Auto Flanger acts in it. With that said, I don't not like them enough to change them now. They will be better on my next project, as I won't be working blind and confused in Construction Kit any more. I'm currently on vacation at Cedar Point, so this is still at the stage you see in the pictures. I'll be hard at work and posting updates when I get back.

It is looking good. Short and sweet. I don't know about the color scheme though. Too Superman-ish and doesn't really mesh with your trains. But do what you want, it is your ride. Not bad for a first attempt at the squared supports and I do like the tube supports in the large helix hanging over the last turn into the break, nice head chopping ending.

It's now the 1st of August, and I finally have an update. In fact, this ride was in the recycle bin for a few days. I had lost motivation, but if I scrapped a ride every time that happened, I'd have a bunch of bare tracks in my trash can. So here it is, and I need your help. I have a (really) rough station started at the moment. I don't know what to do next or how to go about doing it. Any tips you guys can give me? (This is my first ride with any 3ds whatsoever which is why I'm such a n00b).

Looks too blocky in my opinion. In my (limited) experience, I've noticed that my favorite stations are the ones that aren't solid blocks. Yes, I know it's really difficult to make stations that aren't solid and still have them be realistic, but I know it's possible because, well, I did it. What you have now is definitely a good start, and I'd keep it, but just keep that in mind in the future. For what you have, though, I'd say the next logical step is to make a roof! Just as a tip, use a separate component for each of your next bits of the station (this is in sketch up, I mean). This will, if you do it right, cut your poly's by anywhere from 5-20%, depending on how complicated the model is in the first place. I think on my last ride I was able to cut poly's by at least 10%, but it also cut my work by like 10 hours. Work with them, see how they can help you, etc. But do go in with a plan. I know on my first few 3d stations I went in blind, and they came out OK, but nothing to be particularly proud of. Like I said before, looks like you have a good start, just keep up the quality of the work! For inspiration for the roof, I say look at some real stations. It might not give you anything, or it might give you exactly the inspiration you're looking for. But real-life references are always a good place to start in anything NL-related.

After discouragingly finding out how much of an asshole Sketchup can be...

Which direction is this step in? I made it wider at the front for the longer lines.

Yeah, ditch the blue grey and red color scheme. Other than that it looks pretty good.

Well it's all changeable at this point in time, but I'm hopelessly un-creative with colors. Any suggestions?

For colors I have two suggestions-
A neutral shade of green and a sleek, sexy silver
-OR-
Black and maroon
