Firehawk is the first of a series of wooden coasters based off classic rides. The Firehawk is somewhat based off the Silver Flash that used to run at Chicago's famous (defunct) Riverview Park and the Zippin Pippin that ran at Libertyland in Tennessee.

The Firehawk was named after a special edition version of the Pontiac Firebird which was made in 1994.
