This template looks really fun, hopefully I will have time to submit an entry. One question, does the 20kph speed limit on special sections mean you cannot even enter them with a speed higher than that (eg. mcbr or final brake run), or just that any transport wheels/lims cannot make the train go fas...
Originally posted by boneplaya Man, the theming in that building looks so lame. They could have at least covered up the sheet metal... On a more serious note, those might just be the most badass trains I've ever seen... I think that's just a storage area, there's no track between the wheels. I hope...
Originally posted by gouldy Originally posted by TheArchitect and b) I thought it was a worlds first because it races/duels with its self. Hint two lifts, you duel with the alternating car. There's no doubt that will happen, but... is that really a world 1st? Are there really no other coasters in t...
I really like that layout, nice mix of turns and inversions for an invert. Some of the shaping looks questionable, but I'll reserve judgement until I see some more angles.
I don't like the look of the transition from the loop into the turn, seems a bit forced to me. Perhaps an overbank would fit more naturally. Other than that though I like the bowtie (?), nice little element we don't see very often.
I know, but without knowing what the next element is going to be I can't really have a flowing transition out of it without forcing the next element to be one thing. There's not enough speed left to do alot more with it anyway, if there's much more track it won't make it back to the station.

Just an idea, looking at the popularity of the cheetah hunt option, how about doing something like an interpretation of "If B&M made an LSM coaster"? (With twister trains) Loads of scope for creativity, if we're willing to choose a fantasy coaster instead. And I liked the idea of making it just with...
I just always think prefabs give a look of laziness compared to custom supports, but I suppose given the low height of the track custom supports wouldn't look much different, so I guess it's acceptable to stick with prefabs.
All this wonderful 3ds, yet you're still using prefab supports? It just seems to give the impression that the actual coaster is less important than the scenery.
I had an idea to get rid of the diagonal ties on Intamin giga track. I tested it out on a bit of track before, and it seemed to work. Let me know if you're interested.
^ That's how I had it originally, and I'm still torn between the two. I went for this one because you are more exposed to the oncoming train since it's approaching from above you rather than below, and its more unexpected to roll this way. Although I could have the trains slightly closer with the ot...
Update: Layout has been successfully designed, and after many failed element sequences in between both the other collisions I wanted work beautifully. Next step, re doing all the track work to a better standard now I know the layout is plausible. The timing on the final collision is still about 0.1s...
I think that screenshot makes the transition look more abrupt than it really is. The closest example I can think of is Intimidator at Carowinds, from other angles it looks and rides very similarly to this: http://www.rcdb.com/m/8588.htm?p=29582 I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's far from a generi...
The sooner you understand multi zones the better. You won't be able to build a decent track with just single zones, I only find them useful for perfectly straight hills, and there's nothing you can do with single zones that you can't do (better) with multi zones.
