99% of the time, you want to keep aspect ratio set to auto. Antialiasing may not be working on your system; try enabling it through a driver setting and leaving it off in NL2.

Adjusting LOD settings might help too, but it's mostly antialiasing not working.

I've been following TPS for almost a year, and it's gone from what looked like a Hyper Rails update to something much more. The project has delayed slightly with the introduction of unplanned features as well as expanding current ones. Pantera does need solid community support before doing something...

I would advise against upgrading hardware just for NL2 until we at least know a lot more about the performance issues going on.

It has plenty of practical uses if producing game art, for example, an amusement park map ideally with coasters that are actually somewhat believable unlike in most games.

I really need to explore these sort of tools in 3D modeling software sometime.

I actively decided to remain ignorant on how to bake shadows into textures because of the sheer ridiculousness of the concept and the amount of texture space wasted. Although the better alternative; using a lightmap overlaying the geometry, is a more reasonable alternative that I perhaps should've l...

NL2 should scale down quite well considering it's only using DirectX 9. However, the real issue begins when larger scale parks and higher quality models/assets are made by users. If you can run games like Battlefield 3 playably, then you're definitely all set, and personally would be the standard I ...

The mark of a properly designed site is one that can easily be converted to responsive design. The main disadvantage to responsive is that mobile users can't move their way up to the desktop version, so it's imperative that the responsive setup is done correctly without missing capabilities or funct...

^ The term you're looking for is responsive design. There are plenty of correct and incorrect ways to do mobile, and many sites do it the incorrect way, mangling URL's around in horrible ways. What happens if a mobile user wants to link a Facebook photo to a desktop user? The desktop user gets the m...

Would it be possible to archive all the old tracks and leave it sitting around somewhere? If so, I'm all for it.

In either case, this is something best timed with the release of NL2 where possible, although it may already be too late.

NL2 may not enable next gen graphics, but you'll sure be able to hide all the lift/transports, leave your turns unbanked, and dramatize the physics in an incredibly cheesy way using hidden transport segments! As far as accurate roller coaster depictions in pop culture goes, a lot of POV renderings o...

My main beef against tunnel testing is that a lot of people don't know how to do it properly. Something sticks into the tunnel less than an unreachable catwalk does, and people who rate will complain. (As satirically depicted in my avatar.) Perhaps this is less common now, but I've been posting pict...

@kyle: Nice Photoshop work, although the clouds detail kind of got killed a bit. (With some extra time I don't think it'd be a problem at all.) In any case, I do hope for some way to edit the overall look and use filters. It should be do-able if the scripting API provides a mechanism for it. The col...

@Phyter: Without any splines in NL1 CK 3DS export, I found a technique someone used for making catwalks: Create a rough approximation of the track spline. In the editor, you need to go to preferences and uncheck 3ds auto scale and auto center. After that, the imported object's node needs to be placed exactly at the origin (The black 4-side star at the center of the editing template). Use snap to 1m to accomplish this.

Some tunnel to tunnel intrusions are actually not such, as only the outer part of the tunnel (of which has thickness) intrudes, not the inner envelope. In addition, intrusions must occur with catwalks and the station in order for them to appear realistic. Anything that doesn't intrude the tunnel mor...
