ya, but nolimits wont do the animations. If you want to just animat it in the program you can. There are diff. typs of animating though. You can do "key-frame" animation (were you set each key and move the object) or you can set up bones for the object (if its a creature or robot) and animate it tha...

There are probably tutorials at the site. You should just be able do open up the material editor and drag it to the astriod. But you will probably have to add a cerntaint modifier for it to fit correctly ( I don't know how to use anim8tor, just max.)

I think the reason I use nolimits more than SM is because I have used it longer, so I know how to make a coaster. And I like the sound better. But I am still going to get SM2.
