Do you doubt your judging ability that much that this is really going to matter between two tracks though? Not to mention ianko put his name out there first, even if he only implied it. I figured since that was no big deal that it would be fine for me to post mine since he asked (albeit sarcastically).

^No it wont make any difference as I'm nearly finished, but was wondering myself why we all go to so much trouble to make the tracks anonymous when nobody cares about it.

Hahahaha, this thread is turning into win. Also, if you really wanted to get picky with finding out whose ride was whose you could look at the objects folder.

Well, the results are in:

hyyyper's ratings

Track 1 ????????? The Duellists ????????? guitarplayer673

Technical
Smooth track. Both sides are well built and without pumps. The only troublesome thing is the pull-up before the red train?????????s mcbr. It's a very quick and tight transition that?????????ll give rides a jolt. The supports on the first half were very good and detailed. The crossover beams, wide structures and bracing looked well done on the start and turnaround. But the rest of the track remains untouched. E-stop test and tunneltest passed.
Adrenaline
The forces on both sides are definitely ok, lots of airtime pops and some nice laterals here and there. But the ride itself is not very exciting. The start itself is ok, but the trains aren?????????t racing at that point, which is a wasted opportunity to really enhance the ?????????racing?????????. The side-by-side bunnyhops does give that racing feel to it, but the ride had three sections with these kind of bunnyhops. The turnaround is cool because the trains go in opposite directions, but after that the ride just not exciting anymore. When you are designing a ride that has such a low height, and low top speed, it is important to make the rides feel they are going faster. You can do this by crossovers, near misses and in this case, racing.
Originality
The first drops are awesome, and together with the following helix and twists down to the water, they make for a cool start. Yet, it could have been so much better if the trains were actually racing. Then there is the big issue with this layout: The 3 sections of bunnyhops, while one section is more than enough, you placed three of them. The counterrotating helices are very cool, the height difference gives you a good view on the other train, and it really boasts the racing.
7.5 ????????? 6 ????????? 5
6.17

Track 2 ????????? Maelstrom ????????? ianko66

Technical
Both tracks are smooth and pumpless. While the supports are reinforced at the first drop and the following two turns, there are still many areas that need crossover beams, bracing and wide supports.. One minor details: the crossover beams have all sorts of bends in them, while they are straight IRL. E-stop test and tunneltest passed.
Adrenaline
The forces on the ride are good, nice laterals here and there and lots of airtime pops. Too bad the ride itself lacks excitement. The first drops are awesome because the trains are dropping towards each other. But after that the ride is very stretched out, and there are very few crossovers or near misses. Also, while the trains are somewhat next to each other, they do not seem to be racing. And without those aspects, you really notice the low speed of the trains and the ride just isn't exciting. The helix is a nice touch, with the trains going in opposite directions, but following finale once again isn't any fun.
Originality
The first drops are really cool. However, if you had placed the ?????????intersection????????? lower, the effect would?????????ve been better, as the trains would be more visible. The following turns are ok themselves and the helix is also cool, but It feels as if the ride doesn't have actual racing, just one train following the other.

Track 1 ????????? The Duellists ????????? guitarplayer673

The quality of this ride is really quite high, which is to be expected at this stage of the tournament, but it really is a good looking and well built ride. Technically the trackwork is pretty much perfect, with it being really smooth but still actually retaining a good wooden coaster feel. The layout is very good and the two trains duel alongside each other very well, only separating for a short moment at the turn-around so that they can head towards each other head on, which is also really sweet. After they separate, they come back together again right next to each other and duel some more, it all works really well. One thing I think would have been an improvement would be to see the two tracks crossing over a bit more than they do, giving you that whole ?????????where is the other train going to pop up next!?????????? type feeling. They train timing is good, as the trains duel perfectly ride after ride, without getting further apart or anything. I rode it for nearly 10 minutes and didn't see much of a difference in the train timings. The supports are really good as well; some very good support work has been done. You?????????ve tried to add a couple of nice little details to the supports, such as the steel connectors at the bottom of the support, but for me, they haven?????????t really worked out, which is a shame (obviously not detracting score for this, just saying lol). Nice pace is kept up all the way through, it's not excessive ?????????out of control????????? speed, but it is definitely not under paced. The pace is kept up really well because the ride stays low to the ground between the turnarounds. The ride provides a good thrill, with the way the trains duel (one going up as the other goes down right next to it), the head on turnaround would definitely be sweet in reality, both trains are going downhill accelerating towards each other. Basically, this ride is pretty much awesome.

T: 9.25
A: 8.75
O: 9

Overall: 9

Track 2 ????????? Maelstrom ????????? ianko66

Again, this track has a high level of quality. The trackwork is really very good. You?????????ve gone for the whole sort of awkward but intentional banking transitions and random like outward banking tweaks, and you've accomplished it really well, so the trackwork scores well. The layout is sweet, with some cool moments of duelling. The drops facing each other, for example, that is really awesome as the two trains drop past each other. The opposing direction turn around is a good element too, flat and low to the ground, but I don't feel this is executed as well as the similar element on the other track. The whole ?????????duelling????????? element of this ride, in fact, is not as good as with Track 1. The support work is really good for the most part, but I feel that some of the turns require a little lateral bracing, like the opposing direction turnarounds for example and maybe also at the bottom of the first drops, it seems like there should be a little more in that area. Nice pacing right through to the end, with no slow spots, mostly low to the ground stuff so the pace keeps up well. There?????????s some additional 3D stuff; the splashes at that one point of track would be sweet in reality, a nice bit of wetness for the riders haha. But they seem to have been produced using like a trillion polys or something, so they?????????re a little bit of an FPS killer, but a cool addition in reality for sure. Not sure about the maelstrom in the middle of the water, seems odd and from some angles it's just black lol, the splashes are a cool addition though for sure. This track is really very good, just a bit of shame that it only duels once and then never again.

T: 8.75
A: 8.75
O: 9

Overall: 8.83

Total scores:
guitarplayer - 7.59
ianko66 - 7.5

Congrats to guitarplayer, I believe you have won something!
And also a big thanks to gouldy for the ratings and to the rest of the players for entering, and who knows, maybe we'll see you next year.

Well done Guitarplayer. Ianko too.

And Iron Man, that was ages ago. Just let it go rather than letting your personal dislike roam into unrelated topics. Jake was aiming for a style, so we rated accordingly, if he didn't say it was in the style we thought we would have given him a better rate.

Sweet, thanks a lot guys! Looks like things came right down to the wire so I guess I should be thanking gouldy individually. I'm going away for the weekend but I'll be sure to get the ride up here on Sunday for everyone who wants to check it out.

I know I haven't been as vocal as some others in bitching about this contest, and I still think there were quite a few problems along the way, but this really got me back into NL over the last few months and I've been pretty happy with the rides I've been producing, so thanks to hyyyper for hosting it and putting up with all of our complaining.

So its on the main page for the whole week.

Good job guitarplayer, stole the title from me by less than a tenth of a point, haha. I can't wait to see your track.

And thanks to hyyyper for making all the templates and rating, along with gouldy for rating also. I had fun with the contest this year, and I made some really awesome tracks that I'm proud of.

Expect my track on Sunday also.

the tracks were both of a very similar quality and finish so it was close, as the ratings do show.

Well done to guitarplayer673 for winning out in the end, but both of you had some pretty excellent tracks throughout the contest.
