There was so much hype for this year though! That's the disappointment for me. A lot of the announced rides are good additions but the months of teasers, media hype, secrecies, and snippets of plans totally didn't live up to what we got y'know?

Yeah that's true, the hype this year was way more than I expected.
But now we know not to buy into the hype too much lol
Idk I don't like to think like that, what was a great year?

This year had its highs and lows;

Highs:
Fury 325- Freaking amazing. It seems like they tried to make Leviathan bigger and better, and they surely succeeded. It has some very flowy and beautiful elements
Thunderbird- Huge step for the park. The launch factor makes a huge difference, and its different from every other wingrider
Twisted Colossus- Not sure why so much hate is put on this. The stats are just massive. 4 minutes of ride time is absolutely ridiculous. Plus, it doesn't have the red/orange rails that are really getting old. Also, you get that dueling factor, AND you get to ride twice, AND wait once. Did I mention how close you come to the trains? This is an immensely underrated ride so far. Just wait until its complete.
Wicked Cyclone- Finally strayed away from the "iron" name. Seriously though, the name is awesome. It just fits. Pacing is INSANE and the ride itself looks really intense and has some really cool and interesting transitions.

Lows:
Batman The Ride: I thought S&S was gonna impress us. It's just a Zac Spin, but not an Intamin- and I never liked Intamin's either. I expected a not intense, but complete and actual layout but they didn't do that with it. Not impressed.

All of the Super Loops: Come on. A carnival ride at an elite park? That's not even the worst part. They hyped it up ridiculously and marketed it as a coaster when even to the GP it clearly isn't. But SF insists it is despite the hate they are getting on social media ( speaking of this, they removed all of negative comments from their website :D ) . Like someone said above, If your gonna market a blockbuster, then deliver a blockbuster.

Honarable Mention:
Rougarou- I was very happy with this announcement. It will bring new life to an old attraction, and a rather unpopular and painful one too. Cedar Point also marketed this flawlessly and this lived up to the hype. This ride will be so much smoother and more comfortable now! It also opens up a new door for standup coasters across the country because with most of them aging, they are getting quite rough. Standup coasters were a fad that now parks realize was a mistake and this is a great option for them.

this year was an amazing year for coasters!

Banshee showed B&M could still knock inverts outta the park omg!

Mack's Helix at Liseberg looks even better than expected

Harry Potter Gringott's

Wonder Mountains unexpected twist

Arthur at Europa - powered darkride invert with spinning seats... WAT!?!?!

Dollywood's switch track backwards/forwards Firechaser express does everything but go upside-down in a family coaster

RMC's redo of Medusa in Mexico

have you seen OCT Thrust? insane S&S launch in China

Goliath at SFGAm - might not be the best layout but omg it's gorgeous

Flug der D?????monen - Heide Park looks way more intense than the US wing coasters

that's just off the top of my head. Not to mention Kentucky Kingdom coming back and Sochi Park opening with that new swerving coaster

this year was awesome

Falcon's Fury at BGT

this year was one of the best in a long time for parks

Yes it is official and China is getting the world's tallest, fastest and longest GCI this year and there are 2 Flyers being built.

Yeah it's a Kingda Ka clone. I think that Wanda park flyer might take the flying drop record from Manta

It will be the tallest coaster in Europe and it will have drop towers on it.

Let's be honest - falling for the hype thats designed for the GP is almost always going to lead to disappointment. GP can't tell coasters apart at the best of times so they have to emphasize these things.

^yup.

Also, the height of the accelerator has not been confirmed yet- it could possibly be a giga. And it will not be taller than Kingda Ka because then they would have advertised it as the tallest in the world. This is the first new Intamin in forever! And it might be a strata coaster! (Never thought I would see one of those again!) This may be a revival of accelerator coasters and it's good to see Intamin is still alive. Anyone else see a comeback?

Maybe this could push a park to go for the 500ft mark!
I can totally see a comeback, accelerator coasters are just breathtaking to look at!

Acrobat is, but the yellow one is not.

I am still hoping for an intense terrain mack launched at Lake Compounce in 2016.

The only confirmation we have on the height is that it will be taller than shambhala. There was a Spanish newspaper article from around April/May which went into detail about Ferarri Land, and one of the things mentioned is that "the skyline of PortAventura will be changed once again with Europe's tallest vertical accelerator which will pass Shambhala in height".
