3ds Problem

I'm attempting to make a transfer track using 3ds max. I save the original 3ds track with the construction kit, then I import into 3ds max and edit the spine as I see fit. But when I export from 3ds max, I run into a problem. When I try to place the pieces into the editor, one doesn't show up at all, no control handles whatsoever. And the other one has the control handles, but there is no 3d object. Any idea what is wrong?

Check the auto center and scale settings in the NL editor. That's my best guess.

what copy of 3ds max are you using? sometimes I export my 3ds, load it in the track to see how it is, and when I go to export it again i always save it as a different name. If i don't the same 3ds object will show up.

It's 2010. I went ahead and made one out of supports, but I'd still like to know why it's doing what it is

Did what? make that station out of supports?
"but I'd still like to know why it's doing what it is", looks like you still want to know if whats going on. If I were you, I would ask gav to please try to find the reason again.

I want to know, but it's not really that big of a deal right now. If I run into the same problem again on a future project, I'll ask. Now, what would really solve everything, is figuring out why when i export intamin hyper track from the construction kit, I get extra crossties sticking out on one end. That's what I was trying to edit in the first place

That's because the construction kit makes the intamin ties by placing an object between the rails at fixed intervals, each of which contains diagonal bracing which extends behind the triangular part that is perpendicular to the three rails.

Open "nltmTie05a.ocobject" (or 05b) in the construction kit folder and you'll see what I mean, these are the only things the construction kit uses to make the ties for intamin track, so when you have an open track you are bound to have some of them sticking out the end.

You're better off just making your own model of the transfer track using 3ds max, there's no need to use the constructon kit track export for trivialy simple elements like that, especially since intamin transfer tracks are usually two tube anyway.

I suck at doing 3ds, even if it would be just a simple transfer track. I experimented a little, and downloaded the OC to try to create my own crosstie. I won't be using it anytime on a coaster I upload, but I did somewhat succeed.
