For those of you building B&M coasters, and those who will call a B&M design "unrealistic" because of fast pacing, keep in mind that some of the first B&M coasters had amazing pacing. They got slower with age.

Also keep in mind that the shaping has changed over the life of the company, so if you have the fluid curves of the newer B&Ms with the pacing of the old ones, people might take off...and I wouldn't really argue with them unless you had a real good reason to do so.

Those rides still have pretty distinct pacing to them which most people fail to do right. Pacing has more to it than "being fast".

Yeah and you might also want to factor out that they have made the Batman clones more fluid over time. SF St. L's Batman has less rigid transitions than SFGAM's. It's not noticable, but you can definitely tell.

Also using rides that mostly ignore modern day proper shaping (you know Iron Wolf's loop is by far the most circular B&M has made right) might not be the best examples.

Jonny, how was the pacing for the Tetsu ride? Did it have the B&M feel? If so, I got right on accident. I was trying to go for a constant medium flow.

^I would say it had the feel of a more modern B&M coaster (actually a little faster than that). The first half more resembled some older coasters (pacing-wise). Since my favorite seat on Raging Bull is the back, I rode yours in the front and back. It had some good moments of airtime in the back seat, and because of the layout, being on both the left and right end seat delivers about the same effect.

Thanks Jonny. The only thing I knew for sure had a B&M look was the drop. Other than that I just winged it. I'll keep these facts in mind if I ever get to my Riddler's Revenge recreation. That is tough one to duplicate. My favorite B&M.

Gee, or how about creating a B&M that is SMOOTH and has GOOD PACING. Are we insinuating that we'd rather see "realistic B&M designs with the exact characteristics from a certain era", rather than an all out good design?

The pacing is off because it's hard for them to design rides from the confines of their nursing home.

Is it all that good if you don't go into detail? I think not. Smooth is pretty irrelevant nowadays, as many rides are already way smoother than they should be as far as transitions go. Why can't you include good pacing on a realistic B&M? I think B&Ms are paced pretty good anyways...they're done to fit a demographic with the intention of being thrilling enough for thrill seekers, but not too scary or intense for your average guest. If you make something balls-out fast, then you probably shouldn't call it a legit B&M, unless you have some sort of really good reason.

Pfft, I'm not to far off from the nursing home myself. Perhaps I can be the founder of the first theme park worker retirement community.
