Today at 11:56am Cape Town lost Athlone's Cooling towers. A vey well known landmark of South Africa crashed to the ground.
built in 1960, the towers became fragile and where offically put out of use in 2003. One of the most famouse landmarks in South africa commonly know as "the salt and pepper pots" became a risk when it was theatening to fall over the high way running alongside it. In Febuary 2010 it was declaired to be demolished..put on the market to the finest pyrotechnitions and engineers for a tender of millions to simply remove these towers (not so simply). this morning at 6am guests started their sunday morning early to get the best viewing spot to say goodbye to this loved structure.(not very pretty ones) over 6000 people from allover came out to the sports fields oppisite the monsterous structures, Rodes mamorial (On the back of table mountain), stadiums etc etc. People nervously waiting for the towers to go and imagining what Cape Town would be like without them. weather forecasts acurately estimated that the rain would start pouring at noon. For some odd reason the count down started 5 minutes too early on speakers not loud enough to imform the viewers supprising EVERYBODY as the towers all of a sudden began moving. A moment of silence followed by a 135Db loud eardrum shattering bass drop. The construction took over a year to build and under 10seconds to take down...The atmosphere of the crown suddenly became very akward as the dust cloud vanished without leaving their landmark behind.. the rain then came crashing down while everybody stood in silence to say goodbye
All the rubble will be recycled and made into bricks to build a large clinic

anyone from SOuth Africa will know what I am talking about when I talk about the salt and pepper pots.

Is it a sad day like when the apartheid was dissolved?

Yeah, but the Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, and whatever are built for tourism or as a gift or what not. They're not coal power plants.

I would gladly see the eiffel tower come down tomorrow. In fact, I'd love to be a part of the team that made it happen. Anything to see French people hurt in anyway would just be awesome.

Go steal from money from black people intamania. They're just cooling towers for a nuclear plant, nothing mystical with history behind it.
