I still have concerns over the choice of the tire drive lift, I hope Intiman has figured out how to make them work properly when they are wet. After all its the UK, and it rains a lot.

im shure the tires will work in the wet and hopefully they will squeek and pee off the ropers, pair of a***h***s

I think the tyres will work fine in the rain, they make just squeek and be generally annoying to be near.

Of course they will!!!
Its not as if they havn't thought about it, if it doesn't work when it's wet (like gouldy's girlfriend), they wouldnt have put them into production.

Well I'm putting my money on it not working properly or at all. So next time it rains I want someone to go out there and shoot some video for my entertainment.

Steel Hawg isn't that great. It's uncomfortable, and completely overshadowed by the Cornball Express, LoCoSuMo, and even Hoosier Hurricane. That being said, It could seem good at Flamingoland, unless Velocity is really good.

Sam: Where did THAT come from!? [lol] Leave the missus out of this! haha.

SFF: I have absolutely no doubt that the tyres will work exactly as they are supposed to when it is wet, even if they squeek. They wouldn't have even considered them as an option in the inital design briefs, if it was that they didn't work in the rain.

The Bullet worked just fine with its tires up in Yorkshire, can't see rain being an issue.

oh that one!!! Can't say I've met that one - heard about her though. He has several, you see! I've only met the one that has outrageously ginger hair, always wears pink and skips everywhere! I guess she's pretty mental too...perhaps gouldy has a thing about nutters?!

How many actually are there now, Gouldy?! [lol]

Anyways, getting back on topic, I'm sure the tires will work fine. If not, it will be funny as hell.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

It really comes down to a couple of factors if it will work or not;

soft or hard compound tires
drive pressure on the brake fin
momentum when the train engages the lift

If they had thought of it, why didn't they just use the LIM propulsion system instead? It's silent and doesn't require half the maintenance a drive tire system does. Oh Ya, it doesn't slip and scream in the rain ether.

First operator to get a train stuck on the lift in the rain will get a box of cookies.

It probably boils down to how much money they had at the time. The drop track must have cost a fortune and they might not have had the amount of money needed to add a LIM lift in top of that. While the tires might cost more in the long run they probably were a lot cheaper to build.

It will work absolutely fine, no question, and whatever noise it makes wont be as noisy as a conventional lift! The Bullet at FlamingoLand accelerated quite aggresively from a stand still, using only tyres in absolutely horrendous rain and there was no problems, and that coaster was nearly 30 years old when i rode it!
Also Slosprint, it may not be a drop track ;) (we're not supposed to know)

I don't think it comes down to anything whether or not the tyres will work in the rain. It is the end of the conversation when I say that they would not have even considered the tyres if they didn't work in the rain. This is Alton Towers, not Barry's Pier. They have enough money and resources to do things properly.

If they did not work, they would not be on the ride.

no they spend all there cash on making the bastered ropers happy not on there rides. though this ride will be amazing and from what ive seen its going to be fine in terms of the tires.i dont know why they didnt use LIM which would of been a better idea but remember this was designed by jhon so it may of been his vision to actually have the tires making noise or for some other reason. just like nemesis has perts of its track hollow and others sand filled to make it roar at points.

Erm, I think if they didn't have the money they could cut down on the theming to have a few extra bucks.
