So I was using Anim8or to fix the lighting of my sketchup models for my NL ride, and it suddenly stopped working. I imported, fixed it, and exported just fine, but the next time I imported, it crashed. I tried again, and it crashed. I closed the program and then tried again, and again it crashed. Any suggestions? Or better yet, is someone willing to fix the lighting for me? I have it exported as a .3ds file already, so you don't even need to have SketchUp pro.
I don't trust anim8r anymore to be honest. It used to work for me, but then when I have been trying it recently its been love up my faces. Fix's the lighting problem but now randomly half the faces are switched around and see through. I have no clue about this program anymore... hopefully nl2 will deal with this better.
I ran into this at first when I switched to Windows 7. What you need to do is pretty simple. I'm bored so I just did a quick but detailed ten-step procedure for you. It is likely you already know how to do this but I don't care. I hope it helps.
(1) Uninstall Anim8tor
(2) Reinstall Anim8tor
(3) Locate the Anim8tor.exe file on your hard drive
(4) Right-click it and from the menu select "Properties"
(5) In the newly opened dialog box "Anim8tor Properties", switch to the "Compatibility" tab
(6) Within that tab enable "Compatibility mode"
(6) From the drop-down list available select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
(7) In the bottom right of the "Anim8tor Properties" dialog box, press the button that says "Apply"
(8) Close all Explorer windows and dialog boxes
(9) Not required but recommended, restart your computer
(10) Run the Anim8tor executable
