Hi all,

I'm planning a trip somewhere in the UK on the 28th June. Not sure where yet, which is why I'm asking for your input.

Where would you say is best this time of year, what's got the best improvements since last year (or up to five years ago, for that matter - haven't been to a few parks for quite a while).

Being closer to the North West is a definate advantage - don't wanna spend all day driving and queueing :(

Although, I've gotta admit, whenever I've had some muppet try to write me off on the roads, my driving quite resembles the actions of a coaster :D

Well, I've never been to the UK, but there are two really good parks there, of course you probably know. I think that Thorpe park got a big improvement due to Nemesis Inferno, and I've heard that it was a great coaster. But either Alton Towers or Thorpe Park would be good, but Nemesis Inferno is the only major improvement that I know.

Well thorpe park is around 4 hours drive away, if the traffic is being nice to me, so that's kinda ruled out.

Alton Towers is closed that weekend for some private party. http://www.altontowers.com, box on the left halfway down. Seems weird, but *shrugs*

If you get a chance, drop by Oakwood, and ride Megafobia! It may not be the most interesting park in the world, but the coaster rocks!

Oakwood, eh?

Wheresat?

Bear in mind I'm gonna spend a looooooooooong day here, so if there's only the one good coaster I'll likely give it a pass this time ;)

bottom of wales, i would recomend Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Lots of coasters, all in a fairly compact area, and if you got bored you could just go the blackpool tower.

Alton towers gets fairly boring after a while. And theres a hell of a lot walking involved.

Thorpe Park is recomended but as you say, its gonna depend on the traffic. When i went teusday i got stuff in a traffic jam turning onot the M1 for about an hour. Also getting out of the park takes its time.

Do not go fantasy island, highly unrecomended, its basicly a giant market in the middle of knowhere with a couple of rides in it.

Hope i helped
so in order of most recommended
1) Blackpool Pleasure Beach
2) Alton Towers
3) Thorpe Park
4) Oakwood
5) Fantasy Island

Well, we're off to Blackpool in August anyway with the family, but what the hey - you can never have too much of a good thing :)

Might make it blackpool...

lol you could also pop into southport's pleasureland. Its blackpools sister park. Its about 20 min drive from blackpool (only because you have to drive round a big inlet where the sea is)
You can see BPB from southport. I would only recomened southport if you do both blackpool and pleasureland in a weekend or somthing. I would not recomend making it a day trip

yeah, if you're spending a long day at a park, the definitely go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. RIDE THE GRAND NATIONAL! it's the lone surviving design of coaster legend Harry Traver, and it's an insane wooden rush! And Pepsi Max isn't too shabby either.

I could LIVE on The Grand National!

Didn't know too much of the history behind it, but I've never seen another racing coaster in the UK...

That Valhalla ain't too bad either. I'm guessing it'll lost it's rush the second time though. Seems to be a one-shot ride :(

Valhalla short, its about a 5 min ride. Imo valhalla is by far the best themed ride possibly in the world. Its just so original and cool literaly, the freeze chamber is wkd, but i prefer the fire bits n stuff

Apocalypse is just simply sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D

There's nothing like freefall - 200ft to floor in under three seconds. Ahhhhhhhhh :)

I've gotta admit though, I had to look twice when I found out what stops it...

I didn't say valhalla was short though - I said it's prolly a one-shot ride. I can't imagine having the same feeling the second time...
