If it means getting kick-ass presents and having a good time than yes.

I don't actually diss the whole god thing. I diss the Bible because of how failish it is and three million contradictions in it. Plus I hate the way strict Christians seem to think live revolves around finding and insulting gay people with really stupid methods. You might have heard about Emma Watson's haircut which some Christians believe was caused by the dark theme of the Harry Potter movies which caused her to become confused about her sexuality. Seriously, are people deliberately evolving in the wrong direction? (I need no answer because it is obvious to me :D)

I celibrate the tradition itself, not the birth of a bearded guy in the middle east some two thousand years ago.

Before the haircut, I thought Emma Watson was HOT. Now she's ugly [:(]

Anyway back on topic (well, what's left of it, anyway...). I celebrate Christmas because my mom is a Catholic, and I was therefore brought up Catholic. I have since come to my own conclusions about the origins of the universe and whatnot, but that's a story for another time.

Lastly, slosprint, you should reply back, "You know I'm a dude, right? And that heart just turned me on." It could end up funny for both parties if it turns out it's actually a woman arguing with you [lol]
If it's a man, it'll be funny for you and an embarrassment for him, so everybody wins. Well, except him...oh well.

Gotcha. I was mainly wondering was it mainly celebrated because of the traditional aspect of it. I see.

Pastafarians simply call it Holiday. It works.

Slo, ask him if he has been touched by the FSM's Holy Noodly Appendage. (Make sure it's the one and true FSM and not a Linguini or Alfredo heathen.)

And remember, we are all truly Pastafarian, even if we don't interpret the Gospel of the FSM literally!

I wouldn't even call them strict Christian's, just misinformed, possibly radical. Insulting someones sexuality is just lame whether you agree with it or not.

I'm hoping a mature conversation can exist here but I'm giving this 3 pages tops before it gets out of hand.

I do agree though that that is annoying. I think its important for people to be able to question their beliefs. Pushing it on others only shows insecurity.

That also goes for non-believers trying to constantly change a believers mind. Its exactly the same kind of closed mindedness that they claim believers have simply because they wont believe the same thing they do. Insecurity and immaturity.

Actually, you will find that most of the people against gay marriage are the most fundamentalist, and the bible states pretty clearly that homosexuality is wrong. Unless of course you have a definition of "strict Christian" that I am misunderstanding.

Since when is putting an idea through logical debate a bad thing? It is what seperates the good ideas from the bad, and the smart from the dumb. If someone made an incorrect mathmatical statement would you correct them? what makes religeon any different? Also I completely disagree that I am closed minded. Unlike a theist, I am able to admit when I am wrong, and adjust what I believe accordingly. My ability to do so is what brought me to the theology, or lack there of, that I have now.

For sure man. I have seen it bad from both sides. Athiest act as if they are against religious stubbornness but a lot of times they display the same stubborn attitudes.

Count me out of that category. I try to refrain from this "Militant Atheist" stuff, Christians will be Christians, same with Muslims and Jews and Hindus, etc etc etc. No need to waste your breath trying to "Deconvert" them, let them do as the please. But when they try to convert me or put their stuff in our schools, that I think is cause for a debate.

No haha. But now I have.

This whole debate is much larger than what is right or wrong or proven. It has to do with the basic understanding that no matter what you believe, there will always be someone who believes something else. It really doesn't matter if they disagree. Its like a chinese finger trap, the more the two opposite sides pull apart, the worse off you both are.

I dissagree. I think it is a debate about truth, and wheather it is right to jump the gun and say you know something when you really don't. The fact is, people act on thier beliefs, and it does matter to EVERYONE when they decide to do so. If you believe it will rain you carry out an umbrella, in the same way that if you believe that you will go to heaven for blowing up a crowd of infidels than you will blow up a crowd of infidels. I am not saying that all theists believe in such extremes, I am just saying that in order to ensure the well being and peace of humanity, the first thing we must do is have these debates, which will hopefully educate us all, both theists AND atheists included. I would love to hear a well thought out argument for the case of how believing something on faith can be baneficial, just as I would hope a theist would like to be able to take a step back and take an honest look at what they believe. I look not to anger, or cause any offense, yet meerly to educate myself and the other person, whoever that may be.
