Well tomarrow I will be starting our Marching Band Camp at my high school. So offically my summer is over. The number of coasters I have released during summer=0. Which I'm not to happy about, so becuase of band camp and school which occurs in a week and a half my time is now limited greatly. I'm not saying I won't be visiting the site up to 20 times each day, I'm sure I'll still find time for free time, but my overall time is now limited.

Just informing everyone of this. and I still plan on participating in as many contests as possible.

I already started band camp, and my summer ended on July 16th. My summer program started which was about engineering and it was from 8 to 3, and right after that, bandcamp started and school will start in a few days, so yeah. My summer ended a while ago[:(]

I only play one, but it's kinda like two, and sometimes up to five. THE PIANO! I know that It's not exactly the "coolest" instrument out there, but I can also play the keyboard (exactly the same) and the keyboard is where alot of sweet techno music comes from [8D]

Hmm, i play piano, orgon clairanet, flute, piccolo, trumpet, saxaphone, french horn, baritone, i can kinda play a tuba, i can also play grade level 6 music on a plastic recorder, i can kinda sorta play chords on a guitar, thats all i can think off. Hopefully i will learn oboe soon (btw, grade level 6 music is EXTREMELY difficult and takes TONS of practice)

i play flute, clairanet, trumpet, piccolo, recorder, and piano supurbly. I play flute the best. It was quite embarrasing once, during band class i play trumpet, and we had a song for festival with a flute solo in the begining. She went down the row and had all the flutes play it, then she sits there for a minute, looks at me and said get my flute and come up there and play it. I did, and she said i got the solo.

I'll try to ignore MOP's comments about trumpet ;-)
I play trumpet too, just finished my second band camp (it was rough too, I had orchestra camp for 3 1/2 days before that, so my lips were wrecked).

individual: What show are you playing this year? We're doing WSS (Something's Coming, Mambo, Officer Krupke (maybe), I Have A Love, Somewhere).

Don't worry about my comment, that's just my opinion. I didn't like playing it. It's no problem if others do like it.

We are playing "Providence Unfinished" a piece writen for the former director of our band and is very difficult, we plan on marching it at around 200 BPM. Then our second piece is, "With the Multitude of which One Spoke" which is nearly as difficult.

I'm just wondering but, is your band camps for "competitive" marching band? Kinda like what DCI does?

Whoa, 200 BPM!
Our marching band is kind of in the middle. We generally don't do well at BOA-type competitions because we prefer to let our brass play out (BOA usually likes "full band sound" - i.e., brasses don't play over the clarinets). We do consider ourselves a competitive band, though. Last year, we got killed at competition with posture, we got 90's in music and 70's in posture. So, we spent most of band camp fixing that. I guess that's competitive.

We don't compete in BOA anymore, but we used to back in the 80s and early 90s. But Indiana is considered to be the most competitive state for marching band anyway. Since 1980 we have had 8 state championships and 4 National BOA's. As of late we havn't done to great, mostly becuase judges don't like just marching anymore, they want more visual stuff, so we are doing alittle bit more with movement and performing aspects of it, I guess. I don't think we would do to great in BOA now because we have only 12 woodwind players and 27 Brass. So we are one of those small bands, but we can still play with alot of sound.
