As many of you already know, Canada's Wonderland has started construction on their 2008 project. It is located behind the majority of the park an follows around and over the lake behind Italian Job.

Many people have speculated that this new project is a hyper coaster (manufacturer unknown) and now we have proof that this is 50% true!
http://www.maj.com/gallery/gpn1975/gpn1 ... th_005.jpg (from CWMania).

There is also a relatively close map of footers that have been laid.
http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1259569

Many are also wondering what this (http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1259569) will be used for. There are 5 of them (I think). Any ideas?

Its really about time CW got a solid coaster. We DO have the highest seasonal attendance in North America for 2 years now, so please CF, give us something worth coming back for!

I can't wait to see what this is. It can only be better than what is already there too......... [lol]

On a serious note, I really hope that they try to keep all the trees that are in that area of the park. It is a really nice area and it would be a shame to have a giant concrete slab sitting there.

I pray for Canada's sake that it isn't a Morgan coaster.

Right now things are looking towards either Intamin or B&M. A hyper is the most likely guess as the area is huge. I personally hope for an Intamin, but I'll really be happy with anything at this point :)

Aha, I was just at the park yesterday to check out construction. I do believe this is a B&M hyper, but still can't be sure. Where the station is supposed to be, you can see some footers that resemble the signature B&M dip out of the station, like this one...

http://www.cwmania.com/photos/displayim ... 124&pos=28

But really, so far the area isn't that huge at all. Unless they expand westward into the lake or around it, I wouldn't think it's big enough for a hyper. Or at least a 200 ft+ one anyways. I'll be back at the park on friday, and maybe take some pics of construction so far too.

Screamscape sayd B&M won the bid over Morgan...should be pretty sweet.

Wow, I'm surprised Morgan is even still building them. Even more surprised that any park would even consider them!

them footers are the swme for B&M and Intamin. the launch ones are like that ad i dont know about there hyper's.

the only real way to tell is how many holes there are in the footers for the bolts as Intamin use 4 large ones and B&M use 8 or 16
Making screams come true

There are definately more then 4 large holes. I've got a feeling this is gonna be a B&M, something similar to Goliath @ SFOG.

I just hope it's not a disappointment like the pointless Goliath at La Ronde. It has no layout..

While chances are it will be a B&M, I am desparately hoping for an Intamin. Mainly because in general, they provide a more intense ride with ejector air, opposed to B&M new, relatively tame coasters (excluding Goliath @ SFOG).

In addition, Intamin is more willing to go "outside the box" and try new things while B&M prefers to stick with what they know. An Intamin coaster, IMO, would suit the park more, providing thrill seekers with an intense, out of control coaster...something CW doesn't currently have.

Coaster manufacturers build what the park asks them to, so B&M would most likely design a ride that is as much "outside the box" as Intamin if that's what the park requests.

Also, what's with the hate towards Morgan? They have the potential to create the best hyper on this earth... just look at Phantom's Revenge.

^^B&M "do" prefer to keep doing what they are comfortable with. Most parks don't buy B&M's for forceful, unique rides, but rather for a reliabile, safe, and high capacity ride. When is the last time B&M went outside their comfort zone, the flying coaster??

Intamin, on the other hand, is the place to go for "outside the box" creations. Just look at all of the unique coasters they have built:
TTD, MF, Maverick, The Ball Coaster, Furious Baco, etc. What does B&M have? A couple of dive machines and flying coasters.

I'm not saying B&M is a bad manufacturer, they're great, but if your looking for a creative coaster, Intamin is the place to go.

On a side note, I think I know what those large square "footers" are for, but I want to confirm before I say anything. Right now things are looking towards Morgan, and I wouldn't bee all that surprised if they ended up being the manufacturer.

All well. Just another crap ride to put on the list at Wonderland. It's not like they're not used to them opening...

Ok, I think we can rule out a Beemer..for now.

Take a look at the footers that have already been laid: http://www.cwmania.com/photos/displayim ... 124&pos=16

Now look at the footers from some recent B&M Mega coasters.
Goliath (SFOG) - http://rcdb.com/ig3290.htm?picture=47
Goliath (La Ronde) - http://rcdb.com/ig3385.htm?picture=25
Silver Star (Europa Park) - http://rcdb.com/ig3385.htm?picture=25

The footers for all of these coasters are squares, where as the CW 2008's are round. B&M may have changed their footer design, but I doubt it.

Intamin also uses mainly square footers, but they do use round ones, escpecially over water:
S:ROS (SFNE) - http://rcdb.com/ig628.htm?picture=12
Expedition GeForce (HOliday Park) - http://rcdb.com/ig977.htm?picture=3

Chance uses round footers 98% of the time. On the issue of the large squared off areas, take a look at Superman in Mexico - http://rcdb.com/ig2829.htm?picture=27.

Take a look under the MCBR and you will see a series of large square cement footers.

Now I don't know about you, but things are looking towards a Chance-Morgan coaster whether you like it or not. I really, REALLY hope its Intamin, I mean CW deserves a world class ride. What worries me is that most other Chance-Morgan hypers aren't very good...I hope this is an exception. However, if its smooth and has plenty of air, I make do with what we get :)

^Patriot's got round footers (or most of them):

http://www.rcdb.com/ig3244.htm?picture=43

I think anything's still really a possibility. I'll be back at the park tomarrow to check out construction progress, see if any new footers have been laid.

Giant Square Footer! Makes me think of the central footers I've seen on other B and M's. Like this:

I am making a trip to the park tonight, I'll take my camera and see what's happening."

God I hope he's right :)

Hmm hope you guys get a good Morgan like Phantom. Though you won't have the sweet trains and such. That ride actually has a feeling of power, it's a great experience.

I had a thought that I already posted over at CWmania, but I'll post it here anyways. It looks almost exact IMO...

First of all, the footers being so random match up in style to other B&M projects (being so random)just posted.

http://www.rcdb.com/ig2528.htm?picture=19
http://www.rcdb.com/ig535.htm?picture=5
http://www.rcdb.com/ig557.htm?picture=15
http://www.rcdb.com/ig3290.htm?picture=28

And so on...

In the station area, you can clearly see the footers that closely resemble the classic B&M dip out of the station, like on Nitro. Station, dip, straight again.

The clusters of footers around the station CLOSELY resemble those on Goliath @ SFOG on the break run, also by the station (look at the little clusters of 3)

http://www.rcdb.com/ig3290.htm?picture=9

Then there are the rumours that also agree with the B&M theory, such as Screamscape. I know they can't always be trusted, but I think they're on the right track with this one.
