Hey guys, it's about time I start a thread on this. I've been working on the ride for almost a month now and I'm at a point where I know I can do the ride correctly. The layout is finished but I'm still working on tweaking many points throughout the layout and I still have a little shortening to do. I just wanted to start a topic to get the word out that I am dedicated to this recreation.

Obviously I will be doing custom supporting and 3ds as soon as I completely finish the track work (which I estimate will be done in about 2-3 weeks).

Here are a few pics for now, with the layout shots being a little old and missing many, many changes I have made since posting them:

And when were you planning on coming down to Texas? I'm just saying that this is a ride you HAVE to ride before recreating. The funkalicous trackwork can only be described to you when you're getting thrown around by it :).

I've seen the video, and fallen in love with it! I can't wait to ride it in reality, but I guess, that I'm going to have to wait a couple of years for that! So the second best thing is a NL recreation! Thanks Jake!
Are you going to include those funky little things like the weirdly shaped lifthill crest and random jerks?

Looks great, I knew someone would be trying this soon. I definitely won't be riding the real thing anytime in the near future, so I'm sure I'll be playing around with this a ton once you finish it. Good luck getting those supports done without getting bored and stopping, I don't know if I would be able to do it[xx(]

Nah, no offense here either but without the two rides being next to eachother I can say with a good degree of certainty that Jake's unbuilt Troy recreation would also own. He's really good dude, be careful when figuratively 'picking your fights.' lol :P

...? That's what stirred those comments.

Jake: I was looking at this as pics went up on your NLDC page, and I was super excited for it. Don't think this is going to disappoint anyone...

Jeeze talk about putting the pressure on me!

Nah, but I'm still going to do my absolute best to recreate the trackwork as best as I can.

Jake, I will be happy to also help out/ tweak/ offer suggestions.

I've been on the real thing 400 times as of this past Sunday, so I am pretty sure I can vouch for accuracy!

Ahhh, oh my God ouch. You've been on that thing 400 times? It's been open for like two months! That's like 6 times a day! Holy Jesus that would get boring for me.

re: 6 times per day

I don't get to go down there every day, but I'm hitting it an average of once per week or so. I try to go after work on a weekday so there's no line and I can just stay on it.

Was on vacation last week and rode it over 140 times, 88 times in one day(!)

Boring? Not at all. While I'll admit that it isn't the adrenaline rush that it was at first (none of the turns are a surprise any more), the opening moments between the first and second drops ALWAYS give me a rush. It's the most intense 15 seconds of any woodie on earth, period.

And there's also the added fun of riding with a lot of people who have never been on it before, which is still really common since the ride is so new. It's a blast ask people if it's their first ride on it, and they say (typically) "yeah, but I rode the Texas Cyclone, so this is no biggie".

Turning around to see the look on their face at the top of the second drop is always pretty entertaining.

One guy I rode with last Tuesday went on and on about Mean Streak (he was from Ohio) all the way up the lift. I remarked at the top, "well, I'm not a big fan of Mean Streak, actually. I like this one better." He looked at me like I had lost my mind. "WHY???"

"This one's more intense." He sorta laughed, then put his hands up. THAT didn't last long. By the bottom of the drop, he was gripping the bar tightly and kept screaming obscenities in a voice that got higher and higher as we went. At the brake run, the only thing he said was OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!

Once those sorts of moments are less frequent, I might not marathon on it like I do now. For me, seeing the reactions of my fellow riders is half the fun.

minicoopertx, been on El Toro back row from the first drop until the base of the turnaround? Or, from the pullup to the hill over Rolling Thunder until the beginning of the first S hill? I'm sure Boardwalk Bullet is ridiculously intense, but I'd say those two segments, despite more smoothness, can most likely give bb a run for it's money. What ET loses in intensity for being smooth it makes up for sheer magnitude of forces, both positive and negative.

I think it's time we stop comparing every roller coaster to El Toro. We all know it wipes the floor with everything. Let's put up two roller coasters that stand a chance against each other.

Hades and BBullet?
