Interesting how you don't bring up my father.

I wouldn't really call that manipulation. If my mother or father asks me to do something and I'll do it out of respect for them and the fact that I love them. I try to do everything my parents ask since they're nice enough to pay most of my tuition and bills for school so I won't graduate horribly in the hole. Also they haven't abused me as a child or any of that BS and I wasn't raised to be a total nancy like many people I see around me.

In your case there is no love or respect. You cannot love device made of precious metals and plastic. It is a thing, not a person. Like Tcon said, throwing M-80's in the hole will only make it deeper.
