Looks really stellar so far! Also I didn't know about slowing the chainlift speed. It makes sense to me, although as an ex ride-op I am less than thrilled for less capacity lol.

Been a while since Ive updated Drachen Fire, and since it's my namesake, I figured I'd make it a big update! The supports are almost done, but still have some issues here and there I'll work out soon. The track though, I am VERY proud of the track. In fact, the track work is coming along so well, I might make a teaser POV video with the real life POV in a corner to show off!

I really didn't remember the wrap around corkscrew being quite this funny shaped, but sure enough, this is how it was. I have plenty of pictures and video evidence of that! Hard to believe my last ride on this coaster was 16 years ago now.

This twisted hunk of metal was the worst part of the ride. The park took the first corkscrew out after 1994 as it was also bad, but IMHO, this is the part of the right that gave people bruises. The turn was so jagged and wrong. It banked too soon, then didn't follow the bank when you needed it, and had lateral G corners three times going up the turn.

Compare this photo of the turn into the brake run with the real life photo below.

You can see clearly in this photo how jarring that turn into the block brakes was!

The first corkscrew after the brake run went bye bye in 1994. It'll be gone when the 1997 version of the park is up and running.

Looks great. Don't worry about how long it takes. The joy is in the journey. Or is that listening to Journey. I can never remember.

^ You say that now :P I'll do a wireframe set of shots when I get home so you can see how awful the g forces on the "problem" spots of the ride were. I'm actually very pleased with how the track turned out, as it syncs very nicely with the pov video from 1992.

Actually I think this is why there's so much legend around Drachen Fire in the coaster enthusiast community. It looked fantastic! It really looked brand new when it closed, and the track looked unlike anything Arrow ever produced. The transitions mostly looked smooth and glamorous from off the ride. Of course, in reality, it was an Arrow through and through.

Notice how the first half of this POV seems to float right along, similar to any other modern coaster. But look closely after the Batwing (most of you know it as a cobra roll) at how terribly shaped that turn is going up to the brake run! Also, notice how badly the camera shakes at the bottom of the drop off the brake run going into the first corkscrew, and how violent the exit is too. It's not every day you see a professionally mounted camera on a coaster take that much of a beating!

My head hurts just from watching that. That was MOUNTED? Looked worse than a boomerang after the MCBR. but the first half was surprisingly smooth looking...

hopefully they would still be building things similarly to the Tennessee Tornado. AWESOME for an Arrow coaster... I'd prefer Schwarzkopf still be in business though...

I hate Tennessee Tornado. The layout is great, but I was in a lot of pain after riding it. I think it was just a bad ride, but I never went back on as I really didn't want a severe headache.

Oh wow, Tennessee Tornado is the smootest arrow of all time hah. If you don't like it, be glad you never got on Drachen Fire :D I personally love these old arrows, and consider rides like Vortex at Kings Island to be incredible. I love how awkward and thrilling they are, and even I could only take a few rides on Drachen Fire per visit! You wouldn't believe how bad that ride beat you up. It caused many bruises in its short time.

A tale of three Arrows: All three Arrow coasters are now in one master park! Landscaping is coming along for all three. I still am missing supports here and there for Wolf, but Drachen and Loch Ness supports are basically done. Bouncypip has some GREAT 3ds in the works, that are looking really good so far. Anyhow, here's some updated teasers!

^^ the trims were added after testing in 1984 before the ride opened for the first season to reduce stress on the second turn after the drop. They stayed on until the day the ride closed. In fact, the ride had a delayed opening because of it. Conversely, Loch Ness had trims on the first drop in 1978 that came off sometime during the early 80s. You can still see the service platform on the ride today even though the brakes were removed some 30 years ago.

Wow looks amazing! I hope you go into a modern day recreation too as I would love to see Apollo in there.
