So, today California Screamin at Californai Adventure, Disneyland , it vallayed, on purpose, after the backpack of one of the riders fell onto the track after going through the loop.

Word of advice, don't let go of your backpack on the ride, more importantly, don't ride with your backpack on it!

TV says 24 people had to be "rescued" from the rollercoaster.

They actually make you ride with a backpack, they won't let you put it on the side.

Generally speaking, it shouldn't valley if there's an e-stop. That is an unusual ride though, so like say Cheetah Hunt I think it may be an exception to that rule.

I rode CS a few times, how do they get the trains to complete the course after it valleys?

they push the train up to the highest point and let it go.
like a knex set[devilish]
or they use a crane n take the train off and put it back on in the maintenance bay
[peakhill]

yea.. for the backpacks.. i had that problem at euro Disney and when riding space mountain there.. wasn't fun

When bizarro valleyed they used little levers to lever it up each crosstie until and it eventually sat at the top of the hill then they let it go.

There's these mesh bag attached right in front of you in each car. (They have the same thing on Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Tower of Terror, BTMR, and a few others). How a backpack fell out now after 10 years of use seems suspicious to me. The mesh bag works pretty decent.

I would of thought they would of took more care of there bag then if there is a way to secure your bag within the train.

Disney s equivalent of an E-Stop is called a Power Disconnect, it's equivalent of a "Ride Stop" is an "Emergency Stop". What you saw today was somebody hitting the Power Disconnect, which disabled the LSMs needed to get the train up the hill, thus boom, instavalley. Oh well, happens to the best of us. Mr. Bill will be winching all love night.

Actually, the use E-Stop (Where power is shut off to the ride) is common. A majority of the rides at CP have this. It's one of many different ways we have to stop a ride. This being the quickest and most abrupt. In most cases, the E-stop is used in potentially life or death situations (Depending on the ride). Whereas an Automatic Stop, Lift Stop, Station Stop, etc; is used to stop the ride unit at (A) the place it stands or (B) a designated place.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I managed to shove a camcorder bag and my day pack into the compartment and they actually stayed in there way better than I expected. Sounds like someone either over-stuffed the bag or did not make sure that their belongings were pushed as far down into the mesh bag as far as possible. Not to be racist, but, does anyone know the ethnicity of this person(s)? My guess is Asian, again, not racist, but, I have noticed that Asians seem to bring their entire luggage sets to the park, Ok that was a little racist, but, seriously, why do they carry such huge bags when they are visiting a theme park????

I still do not understand exactly what happened. Did the "object" become lodged under the train??

"Here is the scoop.
It was a backpack stuffed full. The backpack departed the train at some point going over the launch hill. There was debris found from the launch hill all the way to the loop area. The train that valleyed had the back pack plus a sweatshirt wrapped around the wheel assembly. They even found stuff stuck in the train that was up on the big hill.
As of right now they are hand winching the train from the loop area to the braking area above it. Its a rather steep hill and the fact that the train weighs in the area of 20,000 lbs the process is slow and tedious. As of about a half hour ago its about halfway up the hill and I heard they have been working on it since midnight or soon thereafter. The plan is for the park to open normally and the work will continue while the park is open. TSMM will be open as usual. CS opening will be determined after all the trains are clear and the track and trains get well inspected. It is very possible that it could be late today or tomorrow at the latest."
