I'm done with trackwork and stuff, and about 1/4 the way with supports (which are really fast, B&M supports are pretty basic).

Hyyyper, important question here.

May we make a tiny split in our lift to have a half chain half tire lift? The entire straight section together will still be atleast 100 feet.

as long as it's not half lift - half launch it's ok. The two speeds don't have to be the same, but they have to be constant.

But i don't see why you would want to do it in the first place

Well basically I have a close call with the lift but if I make the entire section tires then the beam gets larger and then I fail tunnel testing. I guess I'll fail tunnel test in order to not DQ...

He probably already AHGed and is far along with supports.

Perhaps he was going for a Hulk-style element where it goes halfway up, then shoots from there?

^Exactly. I just can't make the bottom half tires or else I fail tunnel test. And yes, the pass by there is at the very beginning of my track, so I would have to redo EVERYTHING.

Better fire up Elementary and FVD! Nobody ever said there aren't any drawbacks from using tools in a contest :P

I'd rather be creative in another way instead of backtracking that far ;).

That would get you DQ'd, it's a half-lift/half-launch. You can have a lifthill with 2 speeds, but they both have to be constant speeds

I don't understand how they could be constant speeds, because as you switch from one speed to another, it would be launched?

Wait, so you choose a track style and we can't even do what that track style does IRL?

Well, if you want a launch, you make the lead in a transport section and the launching part lift with friction tyres.
But if you make a lift halfway up, and then add a launch to it, that would classify as a lift and launch, resulting in a DQ.

If it's still not clear i'll make a graphic

So, if I make the lounch a brake segment, and it stops at the very beginning for a couple of seconds and than lounches, that would be OK, right?

that would be OK, make sure it doesn't go where it isn't supposed to go

So 1 brake segments serving as the only means of propulsion is good?

^if you meant that you slant a brake segment and let it launch the train, that's ok. It's basically a launch with holding brake combined
