Lately my ability to finish and upload my rides has been very weak. I started up but was still unsatisfied. But I am starting to experiment with my woodies and I'm trying something new and gernerally a bit more advanced then what I have done in the past.

I've noticed that the box in the supports programed in NL are a little taller and wider than realistic CCI, or the general wooden coaster. Im 100% custome supporting this baby (except catwalks of course). Its generally a simple design but I need to start simple then build up as I get more experienced.

Here's a taste of what it will look like.

I really want to see some of the layout and the first drop.

I'm not sure how you always do it, but you just have a way of making wooden coasters look so realistic and beautiful.

Don't worry it'll all come in time. I really just needed to get the topic started and out of the way so it'll be a quicker process in the future. "a taste of what it will look like", Patience [;)]...

Cool5: The layout holds inspiration from Zues (mt.olympus) if that helps at all.

This will take a lot of time. Good effort so far, it looks nice! However, I personally think it would be understandable if you gave up. Not saying you should, but it really does take a lot of time that is all. Keep us posted with pics whenever you can, I'd like to see more!

I probably should just create another topic as this question is really off topic but I'm going to sleep now.. If anyone can just give me a simple answer that would be nice. Will changing our own display/user name ever be available here on CoasterCrazy? Hardly any sites allow you to do so, but I just thought I would ask. I'd like to change mine as I simply don't like it as I use to a few years ago. Its really bugging me, not sure why but it is.

Please note I haven't even started on lateral bracing. The supporting under the track gives you a whole new view on how easy lateral bracing is [lol].

On a side note, Champ is up, please ride/rate.

This looks great! The custom supporting really makes the coaster look alot better. It makes me jealous of your skill in supporting! And from what ive seen you seem to have worked a cci style into your layout and trackwork. I am definately excited to see if this lives up to what ive seen so far!

Yeah, the supporting is some of the best I've seen. What is the floating thing for?
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

^That's what I use to measure the support boxes. I'll have a 7 by 7 ft 3D box to make sure the supports are generally even.

Don't want to ruin it for you or anything, but the correct spacing on CCIs is 9x9 or 4.5x9...Sorry lol.

^Meh, thanks. I'll just keep that in mind for my next coaster. ;)

I've never been on a CCI coaster or near one so I was sorta just guessing. I guess it's too late now :P

Edit @ Freddie: Are you sure there's a "proper spacing" for the supports? In this picture,
http://www.rcdb.com/526.htm?p=459
If you count how many support boxes are stacked up on the life hill, you will get a count of around 17, and the lift hill is 118ft tall.

I'm not sure if I'm thinking this through right but the height spacing cant be 4.5 or 9 ft because 4.5*17 = 76.5 and 9*17 = 153. Tell me the hole in my logic becuase I'm not saying your wrong, I am just curious.

Tiny update
Supportwork has passed the 50%... got a lot done tonight, more pictures comming in a day or two.[pshades]

What's the proper spacing on an Intamin Woodie, and a GCI Freddie?

Vertical spacing is 6' or so (it varied based on how close to the ground they were and whatnot). Horizontal spacing is 9', and each square step of the structure (lateral bracing) is 9' wide. The lean-to batters varied based on where on the ride they were. The horizontal spacing over bridges was a bit different. They basically took the span of the bridge and divided it, so you'd end up with spacings of like 9.810 and such.

I have no idea for Intamin, and GCI would probably be around the same although I think they use 3 horizontal spacings instead of two (though I'm not sure what they are exactly). I have never seen blueprints/foundation plans of either type though, whereas I have with CCI.
