But not all people stand at that height. Is this just the normal hertline, or do different size people experience different lines of the heartlining? ( I couldn't word that right.)

Im sure the 1.6 is the average. Taller people would be maybe 1.7 and shorter 1.5. But no more. Thats already an issue with Stand Ups is basically the heartline values change drastically. Throwing a train thats a full foot shorter just complicates the mess more.

Plus, the trains are totally different in weight which will affect everything from top speeds to amount of speed carried and thus G Forces throughout the entire track.

It all sounds like such a great idea but in reality its a bigger headache I think than its worth. Youd have to test out new wheels, sizes, bearing and crap just to get it to track and flow right. Then youve got the heartline issue you CANT change without a complete rebuild of the trains. Its just easier to keep it a stand up.

Plus, I heard Chang rode 10x smoother than Mantis and was quite enjoyable, right behind RR for enjoyability.

Chang is a really nice ride and a great stand up. I haven't rode since April 07 but it's a really fun ride.

I think they're gonna change it to a flying coaster.

Hmmmmmm, how about Chang goes to SFSL? [approve]

I'd expect Greezed Lightning to pop up there instead. That coaster will definitely be moved.

I would love to see Chang go to Six Flags America since the last coaster they built there was Batwing in 2001, but I know that's never going to happen because SFI hates SFA and there probably isn't space for it.

I think, it's stupid that they took down Chang. Chang is like one of the best standup coasters out there, I mean why didn't they take down T2 instead of Chang?

^ I don't think it makes much of a difference, since as it seems, they might all end up gone anyway.

i don't understand their business decisions... it's not the first time they make foolish decision like this
kentucky kingdom was already one of the most non attractive parks of six flags... now taking chang off will make it so lame! i will think twice now before visiting the park while i'm in kentucky

SFKK is most likely going to end up being a waterpark, you cant see that? Remember what happened to Geauga Lake when Cedar Fair got their hands on it? It made money as a waterpark...so turn it into one. Give the rides to places theyll be used and suddenly a park that once drained your balance sheet actually helps it.

well... it is no doubt that the costs of a waterpark don't even get close to a half of a decent theme park which operate like at least 6-7 coasters. only the cost of one big coaster can finance the amount of slides that a big water park has. the maintenance of the rides, the electricity etc. are also big expenses. and the amount of money they charge for waterparks is more then a half of a price of a theme park ticket.
so what the hell? let's just close all the parks and build only waterparks instead... if it's only money we're talking about then parks other then disney and universal should close their doors and open the park again as a waterpark.

I guess SF needs a move like this to try and help the debt issue. I havn't ridden Chang but I'd like to see it come closer to me so I can ride it at least once.

BUMP

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is already in the process of removing the Chang roller coaster, which will be replaced by a large water park expansion named Bonzai Beach for 2011. When I asked Mark about Chang he had an interesting response, explaining that he was always bothered by the ride, and felt it was a glaring example of what was wrong with the previous Six Flags management. You see, the ride's name was odd and didn't exemplify what the ride did or the fun you could have on it. It was just sorta slapped down without much effort and was never really a good fit for the park. When it reopens at another park (still a mystery) in 2011 (not 2010), expect it to be a whole new experience, with a distinct theme, story, colors, etc.

Oh great they'll slap some speakers on it and paint it purple at SFGAm.

Shapiro, you genius! Take away an original name and give it an unoriginal and crappy theme, effects, trains, and name!
