Ka opened this week at the MGM grand in las vegas. it looks awesome!
for pics go to www.umbridge.com and for some old videos go to www.ka.com

it looks like an awesome show!

after Ka, cirque du soleil has a new touring show coming in spring of 2005 that is opening in montreal and then touring the united states, followed by yet another resident show at the mirage in las vegas (former segfreid and roy theate) in 2006, aswell as another touring show opening in montreal and is considering shows in japan and nyc in the far furure. other than that, Saltimbanco will be comming back to the americas for a third time![:O] and so will Quidam in 2009. sounds like a very busy decade for cirque fans like me!

Nice, very nice. Ive seen La Nouba 2 times, Drallion and Vareki and loved em all. Maybe if they get near enough I can con the family into taking me and my girl and we can head out and see something new. I was just telling someone at work about Cirque today, so funny you should post this.

Sure the prices are high, but its worth every penny. You will see a unique show that you will see NO where else, period.

thecool, at seaworld you saw cirque du something.. it's NOT cirque du soleil. the only connection they have is that it was directed by an ex cirque employee. it's not one of their shows.

cirque shows:
Ka (vegas, mgm grand)
O (vegas, bellagio)
Zumanity (vegas, nyny hotel and casino)
Mystere (vegas, treasure island)
Quidam (touring - australian tour)
Dralion (touring- european tour)
Varekai (touring- north american tour)
Saltimbanco (touring- european tour)
Alegria (touring- japan tour)
La Nouba (resident- downtown disney in orlando)
and cirque 2005 (no name yet)(touring- currently in production untill april, then a north american tour)

real.. where do you live? chances are, they're comming your way.

We saw Saltimbanco twice when it was at The Mirage in Vegas before any of the others opened and it blew us away, pretty amazing. Not long after (well, a year or so) Mystere opened and it blew Saltimbanco away. We love it and we've seen it three times now. We keep saying we're going to go see 'O' or one of the others but we haven't yet. It'll have to be pretty damn good to knock Mystere off as my favorite.

We did just see Cavalia when it was in the Bay Area, said to be Cirque du Soleil with horses which is not far off the mark. It started kind of slow but by the end we were impressed and the people/horses performing it were obviously having fun which always helps.

....nouvelle expierence was the one at the mirage [;)] saltimbanco has never been to, and will never got to las vegas. and O is .... like... HOLY CRAP! it's soooooo..... ahh! it's... scary, beautiful, suspensefull, creepy, dreamlike, fanciful, amazing, spine tingleing, it's just so... agh! it's truly amazing! other shows you can find a word to come close to describing them, but O is something completely different. and the music is absolutally amazing! varekai was my fav show untill i saw O. O's acts aren't the best but the show itself is SO perfect and SOOOOO beautiful! it's the only time i've ever felt like crying from the pure beauty. it's SUCH a well made show! i REALLY REALLY reccomend it over mystere, but the clown in mystere (brian dewherst) is the funniest guy i've ever seen! (but DO NOT get the 90 dollar limited view seats for O, get the 150 dollar center seats.. not the balcony) you don't want to have a bad view for the curtain [;)][;)]

and cavalia, although NOT cirque, looks really good. i cant wait to see it!

lol.. can anyone tell that i'm a bit too much of a cirque fan? if anyone wants to know anything about cirque, just ask me!

Yes, yes. That's it. I couldn't remember the name and it's no longer listed because it's not currently showing so I picked one that sounded right and didn't verify my facts. Lazy. That's why I changed my minor from Journalism back to Drama [8D]

Looks like we'll have to make sure 'O' is on our schedule the next time we're in Vegas!

No Cavalia isn't on the same level as Cirque, but it's certainly influenced by it and end the end it impresses with the horses, which is really the point anyway. I don't regret the ticket price.

I gotta say other than the amazing performances, the absolute more amazing aspect of any of the Cirque's is the MUSIC.

Its all performed live (at least the ones weve been too, Id assume the rest are too) and its AMAZING! Its all so rich, so beautiful and so different, you really cant imagine its all played live, most of the time on the set, just hidden or you have to look hard for it. It took us 2 shows to realize that the music was live and then we were really blown away. All the instruments, singing, etc, all live!

well, there are some recoreded aspects of every show, but more than 90% of the music is live. Ka has a lot of recorded music, but it's really amazing what these musicians can achive! in varekai, one of the musicians plays over 40 different instruments... a lot of which he uses in the show! everyone in cirque shows are very talented.

edit: i was wrong.. he uses OVER 40 instruments in the show! and that's just one guy![:O]

hehe, that's nothing compared to O! (in terms of weirdness) but it's still great. La Nouba's scenes and costumes were actually drawn out on black paper with neon crayons to make it appear as if the characters were comming out of darkness (it worked!) while watching La Nouba, you are supposed to get the feeling of being a child in an attic- everything can be anything and your imagination runs wild. it's really a spectacle of a show.

Ummm ... didn't the Nutcracker (no pun intended) do this very theme already? And oh yeah man ... stop staring at those tights ...... they CANNOT get any tighter. [lol]

wow.... you havent seen la nouba then! lol... you just made yourself look like such an idiot!(we're enemies.. i had to say that) besides, the nutcracker was the idea of some schmuck, most likely high at the time of thinking it up. i think the music is good, but as soon as you put dancing rats on stage, i'm out!......the same goes for most musicals

and btw, in almost all cirque shows, there's at least one character wearing a lot less than tights or spandex! (zumanty even has nudity.. hence the 18+ thing)

Stoned and dancing rats ... that was actually pretty funny!

Tell me, do they allow you to bring in binoculars to get a better peek? I mean, I know ya'll are pretty liberal (and flimsy on decency) in New England (just as in England), but standards have to remain ... IMO.

lol.. you can bring binoculars but i don't know why you'd want to! in all the shows (except O and Ka) you sit close enough to have a great view! but anyway, you don't go to a cirque show to see...............yeah........... you go because the shows are awesome!

Yea, I saw that, the music was amazing there too. I loved the story to Varekai, it was so cool with the seasons and such. Drallion didnt seem to have a good plot to it, but it was awesome nonetheless.

^ No doubt.
Anyway, I have been meaning to catch one of their shows live, so I need to get that on the schedule and keep my eyes out for it around here. I have seen it on Bravo before, but live looks so much more interesting.
