I have been recently upgrading my computer. The new upgrades will be listed below with what they will be replaced with and I have a few questions about some of it.

Current - New
Graphics:
2 GTX 280 - 2 GTX 580 with 1 GTX 280 for PhysX
RAM:
8GB 800Mhz Corsair - 16GB 1600Mhz Corsair Vengence
CPU:
Core 2 Quad 2.7Ghz - I7 2600k 3.4Ghz
Hard Drives:
3 1TB HD - either 2 256GB SSD RAID 0 or 4 128GB SSD RAID 0. The 3 1TB drives will become pure storage
Motherboard:
Nvidia 780sli - Asus Maximus IV Extreme
PSU:
Thermaltake 1200watt - ?

Ok, now onto the questions. For the HD's, I want to run the SSD's in RAID 0 for the maximum amount of speed boost I can get, however I know that with more drives in the array it runs a greater chance of failure. So is it better to run the 2 256GB or the 4 128GB, they will cost the same so that is not an issue.

For the PSU, my current one is now 4 years old and I would like to know if I should replace it or if it will make it for another 3-4 years.

For the motherboard, I will be running 3 cards in SLI and want to know if this is a good board for everything or not. If it is not could you show me one that will do what I need. What it will need to have is 3way SLI, Intel P67 chipset, 4 sata 6Gbps ports.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

They are Standard EVGA GTX 580's that I got at Microcenter. They have 1536Mb GDDR5 and run PCI Express 2.0. I will also be looking to overclock the computer, this will be my first time overclocking, so if anyone has any tips that would be great.

Here is what they are:

SSD is some next hype mid range cack. BTW, Buy two monitors (preferably 24" or higher, LED preferably also.) and give me them.

EDIT: Why do you need more than 3TB?
Do you download love loads of blu-ray quality porn or something?

So to clear a few things up. I need more than 3TB because we have netflix and I copy all the movies we get to the HD, not to resell them or anything, just so I don't have to wait for it to come in the mail again if I want to watch it later. Also it is not my parents with the money, it's just my wife and I and a huge tax return due to student credits [:)]

All that was listed earlier has been purchased it is just the mobo and HDs that I am waiting on, mobo because of the damn Intel recall on the P67 chipset.

Also for the monitors I am running a 22" Acer LCD from 4 years ago, and my primary is my TV witch is a 65" Mitsubishi DLP. But if I have enough money left over I will get you those two 24" monitors [;)]

^You should scrap the standard GTX 580's and get two superclocked GTX 580s. Or, if you like quiet, you could get two GTX 580 FTW series ft. Hydro Copper 2. Don't forget, the GTX 595 is coming out in the next month or two and that is Dual GPU. Its two GTX 570's in one and it will be about $700, the same price as a GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper Two.

I am going to custom build a new computer soon, once the fixed bridge model on the 2600K i7 quad core comes out (I am so willing to wait since the 2600K i7 is $300 and the chip is really powerful, and its actually just as if not more fast then some of the $1000 i7 quad cores, so I am happy ). I was also debating whether to buy a GTX 595 when it comes out, or buy the GTX 580 FTW series ft. Hydro Copper 2. I personally chose the GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 because I like the idea of quiet liquid cooling and less space. I might reconsider considering the same price when the 595 has more power...

GTX 580 FTW Series Ft. Hydro Copper 2. Notice how it has liquid cooling allowing it to go faster then the normal 580's. The chip is even more powerful then the Superclocked chips and plus it has the element of quiet and small space.

i feel like building the ultimate gaming rig has become pointless now. With the increase in budget to make beautiful games, and the over abundant use of piracy on computer games, there just isnt a market that will support those most beautiful games on the pc anymore. This is partly why i see the 360 and the ps3 not upgrading any time soon because there is no pc game (aside from crysis) that really pushes gaming engines into the next level, and thus creating that demand from console players for better looking games.

^^ I have already bought the GTX 580's, i would love to go liquid cooling at some point since my case supports it but for now it runs fine with air. I have the Antec 1200 gaming case. Thank you for the info on the graphics, maybe I can talk the wife into letting me spend an extra $1,400. But for now the 580's will do fine since all I really play is Realflight and Star Trek Online.

If you have any tips or guides on how to overclock the 580's that would help me out a good deal.

And also if anyone can help me with the mobo choice, power supply, and RAID 0 array I would appreciate it.
