So recently (3 days ago) i was in las vegas nevada and took a spin on speed. http://www.rcdb.com/id593.htm?????????????????? Well after the first ride i was a little shook up slightly and has minor nausea but im also prong to motion sickness so i thought nothing of it. I got on for a second time in a row. That is what caused problems. I rode in a different seat and hit my head many more times on the restraints. Plus i felt the G's were much more forceful. After i got off i had a severe headache and nausea. After that i didn't ride anymore for the day. We then left las vegas and began our drive back to NM. I was tired the whole drive and we didn't do anything besides stop by nascar cafe. THe nausea and headache lasted for the next 6 hours but then went away. The next day i was still nauseous, had a bad headache, and was lightheaded. It has lasted since then till now and was wondering, do you think its possable that the roughness and the G's gave me a minor concussion. Im not sure and on all the other rollercoasters i have been on i have never experenced anything even close to this. If it is really a concussion its grade 2, in which there is no blacking out but symptoms last longer than 15 minutes.

I'm surprised that Speed could do that because I find it to be a smooth, comfortable ride. However, it is possible. I had to be treated for a concussion after a ride on Drachen Fire. If you hit your head with the right amount of force in the right spot, it's surprising how soft a bump it can take.

I'll bet you did. I would have it checked out. Several years ago, I rode Jokers Jinx at Six Flags America and had a very similar result as you did. At the time (hopefully it's improved), the cars had nothing that held your head in place and the style of track and layout caused alot of movement and banging against the very hard-padded head backing. Since that day, I get migrane headaches every couple of months. I should've had it checked at the time. It happens...just get it checked.

How long ago did you ride speed? It could have gotten rougher depending on how long you rode it.

Thats the point, i don't want one. And you could just tell us its ninja at SFOG we know about most coasters and if not we have RCDB. If ninja is anything like Canyon blaster or Ninja at SfStl i don't think it is as bad. The trick i always find on arrows/vekomas is keep your head against the head rest.

It was 2 years ago the last time I rode it. I've been on it over 500 times and never hit my head but I do know other people that it's happened to.

Dang... That's too bad. I'm positive that it's possible, but I'd think a ride like Viper or Manhattan Express would cause that. Not something newer like Speed. When you get it checked out, tell us the results. haha

I will tell you as soon as i find out. @ spongemonkey, it has probably gotten rougher since then. I could be wrong becuase i have yet to be on Manhattan express, but i believe they use similar trains. The restraints are not like those of arrow/vekoma rides, they are much larger and more solid. I wish they would upgrade to the new Premier trains like the ones on freeze. IM sure it would be ALOT more comfortable.

Well, jeez man. I hope you turn out all right.

I'm about to take a week off and head over to Vegas this Sunday. I'll see how rough it is, but you know I don't really think I can help, because I prefer rough rides over smooth, so I've gotten use to the whole headbanging thing, but I'll let you know how rough it is, and ask some questions concerning any past injuries and stuff like that.

Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit of yourself to get the job done.

They told me at the doctors that it was probably a combo of the ride itself and that i may have caught a bug. I probably had it before the ride but it just made it worse. But in terms of brain truma they said it dosn't look like anything serious.
