Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas, which had its first season last year, is now open for 2015 splashing under the warm Vegas sun. The park has been working on a large new slide tower that features two separate slide attractions coming off of it.
The first of them, Beach Blanket Banzai, seen above, is already open at the park. A traditional family style raft ride, this one stretches over 600 feet in length and starts from 60 feet in the air.
Here is a shot of the new slide when it was still under construction, with most of the slide in place. Beach Blanket Banzai features many 180 degree turns as the rafts, seating up to four riders, bank up and down the slide walls. Beyond it is the park's other new ride for the 2015 season.
The park's second new slide, which will open Memorial Day weekend, is Wild Surf, which lets rafts slide down into "the world's largest man-made wave." At its core Wild Surf is a funnel style ride, that starts with a turning drop plunge down 60 feet, then through the massive wave and up the slide's wall. The above photo of the slide is also from when it was being built, but it nicely shows off its unique curves.
Finally, here is one last image from the park - this is the 2015 Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas park map. I love its fun style, and the use of ride logos throughout. I'll be eager to hear reviews of Wild Surf when it opens later this month!
