After having to push back their official opening, Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas has announced that they will open to guests for the first time on July 4th. The park, which will span 23 acres, is in the final stages of construction the water slides, pools and rivers that will entertain visitors.

Above is a shot of the mat racing slide Sufin' USA, which actually features an uphill portion at the end of the slide. I believe this will be the first such instillation in the country, and sounds like a great take on a common type of slide.

The park's entrance area is largely complete, and features some fantastically bright colors to welcome park goers. Cowabunga Bay will feature many of its necessary amenities, like changing rooms and lockers, adjacent to these buildings. There will also be several food stands located throughout the park, including Bullwinkle's Boardwalk Grille.

Above is a slide tower with three separate attractions. Good Vibrations is the pink slide that features two large black and white "rebound chambers" along the path. Rock-A-Hoola is the yellow slide that empties into a giant bowl, and Point Panic are the two other slides which are fully enclosed.

Zuma ZOOMa is a separate slide that features a trap door launch down into a fast curve before the run-out. Two other slide towers, Wild Surf, which features a giant wave wall at the end, and a family raft ride are now listed as "opening date to be determined" so I think they might open after July 4th.

There's also a large wave pool, lazy river, and a children's area on the list of attractions.

For more recent construction photos of Cowabunga Bay, check out the park's Facebook page, and also find out more on their official website. Here's a pretty cool flyover over the park from a few days ago, showing the latest progress:
