This topic is quoted from our network site Zerognetwork.com with author shaggszgn.
On our trip to the CP today, we found out the hard way that slightly overweight people, and I don't mean people of size, I'm talking about people with a wasit size of 36 and higher were being told they could not ride M-Force, and other rides at the park. Even tho the seat belt connects and the lap bar comes down. If the ride op dose not see 1" of slack on the belt(not including the handle, aka, the red part on MF's seat belts), you may be asked to exit the ride.

I myself was not told to exit MF, but MJ had to. And those of you who know MJ, knows he's not that big of a person.

I think this new policy blows. If a person can latch the seat belt without forceing it, and the lap bar can come down far enough, that person should be able to ride. I can understand the whole safty issue behind it, but come on, this is abit extreme.

What do you guys think about this? I think we should make a bug fuss about it, we know the cedar point people check the sites around for complaints. Perhaps after readins tons of users complaining they'll decide to make a change.

But seeing 1 out of every 15 riders being told they can't ride is abit crazy. That and the fact, on average they check/turn away 2 people per train, which ties up the trains and make a aready long line even longer. Because of this, they are stacking all 3 trains most of the day.

and running three trains? man that's dumb, the riders at the exit must be waiting a while to get off the ride.

of course it's because of the sros deal, the thing is they do this on MF but they don't bother doing this on TTD. Where TTD has a better chance of someone flying off [lol]

that policy is f*** up, if you can fit you should ride, but I'm sure they're doing it cuz of all the death's that have happened on Intamin rides. IMO, if they don't feel comfortable with that 1/15 person ride, then they should get new seats that are "engineered" for a larger variety of people to ride. As they said already, they wanna concentrate on making it more of a family oriented place, and if a lot of people can't ride (which 1/15 is) then they should fix it, or they might start loosing a lot of money. But yeah, that's really f*** up, even though I am a really skinny person and I have nothing to complain about..... And what happens if your really buff and your over that weight??? After all muscle does way more than fat, and you could way more than a fat person and not be bulky and take up as much volume as that fat person (no offense to any of you here who consider yourself fat)

They aren't kicking them off because of weight, they are kicking them off because of physical size.

They really need to start considering the fact that 1 out 3 americans are overweight in some way or another. Designing these rides to only accomidate the "skinny" people is wrong. You could probably sue someone over this. It's discrimination really. I know it's all about safety. Then design the cars for everyone. I mean I can kind of understand not allowing someone who is 300+ pounds to ride, but turning people down because they have a 36" waist, is wrong. They showed a guy on the news last night who was turned down, and he was tall sure, but he wasn't really that big around the waist. It's pretty crazy. Hey at least on BKF (Dominator -what a pissy name) @ WOA (Geauga Lake) there is one seat on every train designed for overweight people. I think that's awesome. Maybe Intamin will learn to design for a "larger" group of people. After all, I think they said on the news that the decision came directly from Intamin.

well, at least I'll be losing a little weight hen I go work there... I'm a 38 waist right now, and that would really blow if I wouldn't be allowed to ride my favorite roller coaster at the park.

they better not be passing those silly restrictions ontp their other parks and keep people off such as Xcelerator. Bad enough the lines are non existant at KBF, now kicking people off would make 0 time que lines meaning loss in money from attendance. Dumb Intamin with this rule. It's clearly a problem with their SROS designs as those are the only ones ejecting people, not MF or others. Kinda funny though and stupid that MF takes all these precautions and TTD doesn't.

TTD has a different restraint system though. TTD has a duel locking system within the lap bars whereas MF only has one, so making sure the seat belts on MF are tightened would be more important, as if the restraints were to fail on MF you would have at least some other method, where on TTD both locking systems would have to fail which would be extremely unlikly. But i do agree that it is a stupid rule to have

I wonder what they would do to me, i have a about a 34 waiste but i wear 36 pants. Its a pretty messed up rule not to mention pretty embarassing if some people were really hoping to ride it then ahd to get off infront of all of those people. I once saw a big person denied a ride on georgia scorcher, a stand up coaster, but there was a reason. When he got in the chair and pulled the restraint down the latch that attaches to the buckle wouldnt reach, so they had someone come over and try to force it down but he was just too big.
Well, intamin has prob realized this, i'm sure some of there own people prob cant ride it now. They could be in teh midst of designing a new train right now, or already have one designed, they just need to have it built and shipped. Well, thats my 2 cents, thank god my park doesnt have any dumb rules like that

Argh, that sucks. Hopefully this won't interfere with any of my ridings during my trip to Cedar Point on June 14th.

I think xcelerator has the same restraint system as TTD, so I don't think you have to fret that much

First off, like others said, it came directly from Intamin, so why blame Cedar Point? They are just looking out for the safety of their customers, and they dont want an incident like that on SROS...

Also, it makes quite alot of sense that this is on MF and not TTD. MF has loads more airtime than TTD and the possibility of being ejected is very much higher (albeit still low). By the time the train arrives at the top of the top hat on TTD, you're going too slow to experience much airtime...

I'm glad Intamin called for this policy. Maybe now people will realize they need to lose some weight....
