Crazy East Germany Tour '09:
Day 1: Crazy Rodelfun!
Day 2: Belantis
Day 3: Freizeitpark Plohn
Day 4: More Crazy Rodelfun!

23rd of September 2009, Day 2: Belantis

Finally, here is my Trip Report from our 2nd day in Germany.
Today was the day that we were going to Belantis. A park where they recently got a Gerstlauer Sky Roller! As Rollercoaster credits they also have a very cool Gerstlauer Bobsled.
But since there was more to do on credits around the area. We first hit a couple other locations. For today: 2 more alpine coasters before going to Belantis for the rest of the day.

First stop was at 'Sch?????????ne Aussicht'. Which means 'Beautyfull view' in German.

Image
Yes, it definitely is a beautyfull view! [:)]

Image
Since we arrived exactly at 9am in the morning. No cart was on the track yet. (They probably didn't expect anyone early [lol])

Image
Ok, carts are ready! Almost ready to go! First a test lap is necessary.

Image
OMG! It's a ghost!

It was a very cool alpine coaster. The start was pretty slow on gaining speed, but the end was just crazy, which made it feel way too short...
At the end there were a couple crazy turns pretty steep downhill. Only to slam in some brakes at the end.
After a couple rides it was off to the next alpine coaster at Petersberg.

Image
It looks like this is the place to be!

Image
Yup! Cool ride! Helix!

Image
Yay, the carts were already ready for us!

Image
Awesome! They tracked our time of the ride down!

Image
The last rides. I'm the one in cart no 2, my buddy was behind me in no 26.

The ride was awesome. The whole ride from the start was top speed. That helix was just crazy and that drop was pretty cool. I would have loved to take a couple more rides, since I had the idea in me that I could have broken the monthly record of 39 seconds. But there was a very awesome park on the planning. And it was up next! [:D]

So we finally arrived at Belantis, home of the Sky Roller!

Image
The entrance from Belantis

Image
I spy a Rollercoaster in the distance. Can you see it?

Image
Maybe this helps a bit more?

Image
But first some flying in the Sky Roller!

Image
Yeah! I love it!

The new Gerstlauer Sky Roller is awesome and insane at the same time. The principle of this ride is very simple. You're just a human propeller. By adjusting the wings every time you can swing, until you gain enough momentum to make tons of rolls. As soon as you're going upside down. You'll keep going on until you'll change the position of the wings or until the ride stops. This ride rocks when you have various gusts of wind. With some nice timing on switching the wings you can get crazy rotational acceleration and deceleration!
I really hope for you guys that a smaller themepark in America will purchase one of these rides. The ride can be as gentle or as intense as you want. And with intense I really mean intense! The rolling kinda gives you a very fast switch of G-forces. The whole ride exists out of ejector, hangtime, lateral hangtime and regular positive g's. Combine that with rapid changing and then you'd might get a slight idea how intense it can be.

A video of my buddy doing some quick rolling. [:)]

After a couple rides we went further for a walk through the park. We still had to ride a coaster.

Image
The station, it was pretty quiet at the moment. [:)]

Image
Bunnyhumps!

Image
First drop!

Image
Helixes! Although, there could have been some nice airtime on the switch between the helixes [:)]

Image
Wheee!

Image
The last couple turns with a cool tunnel! [:)]

Image
More bunnyhump sensation!

Image
Some kind of overview...

Very cool coaster. The layout looks a bit like the Bobsled in Tripsdrill. But then again. All Gerstlauer bobsleds have like the same layout idea: Curve drop, Mouse turns, Helixes, Bunnyhumps and some final turns/helixes. [:)]

Image
There was more in the park to see, like a very fun waterride!

Image
There goes another boat!

Image
Splash!

Image
There they go down the drain! [lol]

Image
The G?????????tterflug does another lap in the distance. G?????????tterflug is German for 'God's Flight'.

Image
The station from the flume ride.

That flume ride is pretty crazy. It's just a big rubber boat going down a water stream. It feels so weird when riding. Also going up on a ramp is pretty weird since it's been done by rollers. That stuff makes the movement of the boat crazy enough to actually add something to the ride! Fun ride. It's a must do if you're at the park!

Image
Just for fun we took a ride on the Heege zipline.

Image
There were some strange sounds coming from that cave. I wonder what's in there...

Image
We also walked to somewhere in the back corner where a Huss Frisbee was hidden. Looking at it it'll probably came strait of the fairgrounds.

Image
Wow, look how much they enjoy the ride! Not! This is the highest point it goes...

Image
Now back to some more playing in the G?????????tterflug!

Image
My buddy doing another lap meanwhile i'm taking a break for one lap... [lol]

Image
That's the way how to roll!

Image
Spinning!

Image
Near the end of the day we took a ride on the boat ride which goes through that cave. Where the weird ass sound comes from... Apparently we also saw a Zierer Jetski that just closed. Too bad, maybe when I'll return sometime.

Image
Going in!

[youtube]fOV0I5d6YsU[/youtube]
I don't recommend watching it if you want to throw like a minute of your life away. [lol] Rough translation: "Who... Is... There..." - "Nobody" - "Random shouting..." [lol]
Apparently this should have been a scene where you'll see a cyclop. I expected more from the hearing the sound only... [lol]

After that ride we wanted to ride some more attractions. But apparently, they were closed... Whut? The park closes at 6. Why the rides at 5? Oh well, we walked gently through the park and played around a bit on some other stuff.

Image
Taking a last picture of a coaster.

Image
We found an exit from a slide. Next time i'm going to find the entrance! [lol]

Image
Me and my buddies group photo at the park mascot! [lol]

Image
That's apparently the sign that we missed. It announced that the rides closed already at 5. Oh well...

After a nice day at Belantis we went first back to our Hotel in Leipzig. After having chilled out for a short moment there we went into the city to hunt some food. After that we went to an internet caf????????? for about an hour and left back to the hotel for some sleep.
Tomorrow we're going to Freizeitpark Plohn! Aka... The only GCI woody so far without any crossovers!

Stay Tuned for the next TR from Day 3! [:)]

That frisbee is cool looking, But it totally needs a reprogram. What the hell is up with the boats on the flume?, It looks like an accident waiting to happen. Totaly love the flyer ride, looks like it would make for a great drinking game.

The Alpine Coaster looks really fun, and I would probably even count it as a credit. Do you have to operate a manual brake as you go down?

The boats on the flume are cool. They even have seatbelts! [lol]
And how would the sky roller be made for a drinking game? Maybe nice for offride viewing! [lol]

Yup, Alpine coasters are credits according to some coastercounters. If i get the chance I'll ride them since they are damn fun too. But I don't actually add them to my personal Coastercount. [:)]

And yes, there is just a manual brake. So the most ideal situation is a clear track in front of you so you can go full throttle. Especially because the cars are locked onto the track with upstop wheels. [pshades]
