Evacuation Goes Wrong

From what I've heard no one was hurt except a ride op who was just bruised up a little. I think that It was the ride ops fault for evacuating the back of the train first causing an uneven weight distribution.

Well, if you look close, as soon as it leaves the lift, at least one restraint with hands on it comes down.

Yeah, two at the back pulled their restrains down right before it left the lift. Apparently they were evacuating everybody, starting with the back, and then the train just rolled over the top of the lift with people still in it.

there were still people on that with open restaints but i seen all being pulled down and they would of locked in place so they would of all been safe.

i dont get how the chain could just start up again thought without the ride op dispaching it.

i hope someone got fired for that

they chain didn't start up again. Because no clamps was used, the train was resting on the anti-rollback of the lifthill. When they started the evac, they started at the back, and the center of gravity shifted forwards untill the train has topheavy enough to roll

Its the python in the efteling.
The person how was evacuating is indeed fired.
He did'n followed the evacuation instructions.

check it carefully mate
sorry but it look to accelerate to quick to just roll over

what the hell would the ride ops unload the rear of the train first and not only that they didnt follow the amusement rules that when an evaquation of a train happens on a lift hill the wheels must have chucks beneath them

^I think that hyyyper is right gazag. I don't think that the lift would start by any means. Either way the train should have been chained to the catwalk or something.

gazag, i spoke when the girl that filmed the whole thing. The chain did not start up again. And the employee who supervised the evac is, as the boss of the efteling says "being punished" because he didn't follow protocol

I just saw that video a little while ago, and I was really ready for someone to fall out of the car on top of the loop or at least something like that, scary....

hyyper your a rid op you should know howthey work inside its excedingly simple there are 3 popular types, tube, rack and neumatic.

rack type- its a simple rachet system on which as th resteaint pulls down the leaver in the rear pulls up latching onto notches on the bar in the center colum of the restaingt system, this will then be backed up by the tube system. this is released by removing the block from the rachet system.

tube system- basicly this is like a break, 2 shoes inside a tube that can be pulled in one direction but not the other. these are releases when the 2 center shoes are pulled together and the restaingt can then be pulled up.

the neumatic system- basicly a piston which fils with oil or air as the restainght is pulled down and this is usually backed up by the tube system. to release the air is released.


now all these systems can only be released in the station by a skid plate in the station or another loking system under the train or by a key. with the key the restaings can only be released while the key is turned and it can only be heald in place by somne because as soon as the key is released it sets beck to its original placement so the restaint can only be closed and not opened.



so this means when the people pulled down the retai nts on this coasterthey would of locked in there positions and the people would of been safe.
hope this would of explaned some things

They were doing it right to CP standards. I was taught that maintenance would secure the train and you get people off the train from the back to the front. Mostly so guests don't have anyone still sitting in the train to distract them or grab them as they walk down.

Also there is usually 2 or more rachets holding the restraint down, they are aligned staggard to allow for more locking positions. It is possible to have the stopping mechanism at the tip of a ratchet. One test ride in the mourning on Raptor my restraint was like that and it slipped off to the next ratchet on the first drop. Probably one of the freakiest experiences on a coaster.

Very interesting, question though. How is it pushed over the edge? Manually? Seems gravity would kick your tail from one end of the world to the other on that process.

And common sence... If you Start with the people in the front. Its going to take longer, becuase you have to have them walk past the car you need to work on next. When i got stuck at the top of Hulk... they started at the back. They also had a staff memeber escort each group of 4 down the lift.

^i don't think time is an option for choosing an evac method. It better to start at the back, because then people won't be seeing other people that were in the front of the train walking past them. They'll freak out because they want out to. If you start at the back, no one will freak out and you can have a nice and easy evac

ya but in a situation like this one where the train rest on a very teter-tottered center of gravity, you should start from the front. Wether the people freak out or not is irrelevent. Saftey comes first and this jacka** who did the evac should have taken physics in highschool.
