Having read MacBeth for the first time this year, I must say it's almost a modern day, real world rendition of that. I'm not too familiar with his rise to power, and it certainly didn't involve witches (although it wouldnt be surprising with all the crazy things he's done), but the rest of the story matches up. I guess this is true for a lot of political events in history that have to do with dictatorship or just any sort of absolute monarchy.

Good point hyyyper -- but Saddam never said he was the Savior of the world who had been prophesied accurately about for thousands of years; he merely appointed himself as supreme ruler over a nation for a quarter of a decade -- and because of his actions, convinced that nation that he was.

i know that, jesus and saddam are very different, indeed, but to the group of people that followed him are going to be quite pissed and will go and do more suicide-attacks

Why do you all want to watch a guy being hung? Despite what hes done, i still wouldnt want to watch him get killed. [?]=S

I agree with Mikado (and with what hyyyper just said), what is going to be done by hanging him? Isnt it just going to aggrevate his followers way more than imprisoning him, and they will all make martyrs out of themselves for him.....? Maybe im wrong, but i can just see that happening. Why fight death with death? It just seems like the phrase "two wrongs dont make a right" fits in with this. It could cause way more trouble than its worth hmmm....?

Although its worth a hell of alot i guess, as hes done some terrible things. And i guess theres no right way to tackle something this difficult.

While I don't necessarily agree with the death penalty, which is ironic for those of you that know what i do for a living, i think is some cases it's appropriate. This is one of those cases. I believe the Iraqi people needed this execution. Like all tyrants, the people they rule over need closure. This man hurt so many people throughout his rule that he needed to be silenced.

Will is spark more bombings? Most likely. However, the emotions of his hanging will soon fade and Iraq will go back to being as screwed up as it was before he was executed. I think the real question now, at least for Americans and Brits, is how do we get our people out of there? That is an entirely different topic.
