Yesterday I travelled to the east coaste of the UK to the seaside resort of Ingoldmells near Skegness to ride Fantasy Island's Jubilee Odyssey (world's tallest Vekoma SLC), the Millenium Coaster (a reasonably good Vekoma Custom MK-1200) and Fantasy Mouse (a Reverchon Spinner!).
The park itself was nothing like I had ever seen before, it was free entry and you just paid for the rides you wanted to go on, but it was expensive:
Jubilee Odyssey - ?????????4 per person per ride
Millenium Coaster - ?????????4 per person per ride
Fantasy Mouse - ?????????2.40 per person per ride
The park was one big outdoor market with a couple of rollercoasters built on top and a few flat rides!
You can pretty much see all of the park in this one picture:
The only other Vekoma's i have been on before are the "Corkscrew" at Alton Towers (pile of shiz) and Deja Vu at SFMM which was pretty good. So i didn't know whether to expect a rough or a smooth ride, however the Millenium coaster was surpringly smooth and was interestingly designed. The whole coaster was designed above the pavements/sidewalks of the park and the market stalls.
Here's the lift hill over the pavement/sidewalk:
And here's a glance at the Millenium Coasters first inversion:
Shortly after that first inversion above there is a very long straight section of track which is just there to fill in space so that the immelmann does not go into the main Fantasy Island building. I guess what was weirdest was the fact that the market and the buildings were there before the coasters and the coasters had to fit the environment that was already there and not the other way around.
Look how close it gets to peoples heads:
The Jubilee Odyssey was BRILLIANT! Totally worth the long drive, i suggest if you have never ridden an SLC to get yourself on one. Jubilee Odyssey had terrific G force of 4.8 which seemed to be experienced several times. The most intense moments are the bottom of the drop and the vertical loop and the sidewinder nearer the end of the layout.
Me outside the Jubilee Odyssey:
The queue's for both coasters were very short, because nobody wanted to pay to go on them, but i thought they were well worth it.
