Trust me, the hip pads do not hinder you. Ive seen them and they are just some thin padding for the sides of your hips where your bone would take the brunt.

I was talking about soccer btw, not American Football. Maybe thats what they play with in HS and College, which could be the case, but I hardly think it would hinder any ability you have. You barely notice its there. You might run oh, like 0.00001 seconds faster.

Rugby is crazier, but I think I see more harder hits per game in American Football than in Rugby. However, Rugby is still a crazier sport. I can guarantee those men have some serious bone and muscle problems later in life LOL

[lol], they also get paid plenty to do something they enjoy, so there you go, nothing is free ..... sadly lol.

I knew you were talking about 'soccer', just I myself have never personally seen the padding you were talking about, apart from the shin pads and I've certainly never used any and it never did me any harm playing footy [:)] ...... well, there was that broken leg

and that fractured ankle (which has done permanent damage, cus I didn't realise I'd fractured it till it had reset itself, very slightly deformed [lol])

and the two broken fingers

and the severe abdominal bruising

and the countless broken toes (which by the way hurt 1000 times more than a broken leg)

....oh yeah and the 'out of place' knee cap, I am currently nursing

but apart from those little things, nothing bad has ever come of me not wearing any kind of padding to play footy (soccer)

hehe. Your not wrong there. Well actually, they already have lots of bone problems. My friend plays Rugby for County, actually 3 of them do, so they are VERY good at Rugby. One is like my best mate, and i dont think he has gone 5 weeks without breaking something. At the moment, he has 2 broken fingers and a thumb or something. I recall times when he has broken:
- His arm (numerous times)
- Wrists (too many times)
- Leg (once)
- Fingers (about 5 times)
- toes (a couple of times)

I swear he should be deformed by now. My oher friend was also out for a very long time when he was tackled badly and landed on his collar bone and it broke.

Rugby sure is a dangerous sport, but so much fun aswell.

About the cricket thing, i think its sensible to wear alot of padding. When you have a rock hard ball, going at like 100mph it makes sense. Ive been hit by a cricket ball at speed, and ive never felt pain like it (apart from when being sat on by a really big lad in rugby during PE).

BTW about all the padding for soccer, that seems a little over the top. It isnt that a violent game (but my team got 3 players sent off for a fowl, then for pushing, and then the goalkeeper got sent off for kicking the ball at full pelt into someones head while he was faking being in pain. LOL) I mean, why have all the hip pads and ankle guards? At school we play footy with shorts and T shirt on, foot socks and boots, and shin pads if you want em. Thats about it. Goalkeepers get gloves if they want em.

But i dont play that many sports so im never hurt that much. You rarely get hurt in tennis and things.

Rugby is the singular most awesome self relief treatment. If youve had a hard day at school theres nothing like havin a rugby match against your rival school to take it off your head. I know its wiers but its the pain in rugby that makes the game. If it doesnt hurt when you go down. Whats the point [lol] !

Ive been playing rugby 4 years nearly and ive been injured AN UNCOUNTABLE amount of times. But i still love it and always will![:I]

Well, Id wear gloves as a keeper because 2 reasons:

1. Better grip
2. Dont need broken fingers. Broken fingers = you suck = you cant stop balls

Id also wear shin guards because frankly, you need your ankles and shins to be free of pain and in good shape to play at your best. If you have massive bruising, its going to hamper your ability no matter how good you are at blocking out pain. It may not even hurt but it may not bend or flex like it could.

The hip pads I talk about are usually built into the side of shorts. So they arent even connected to you. Its just there so when you dive to make a stop, your hip bone isnt digging into the grass. Its completely unobtrusive.

I just got Pro-Evo 5 and applied a World Cup patch so I have all the teams, players, stadiums, jerseys and official ball for this years World Cup. So not only do I have all the English League teams, I have all the World Cup league teams with past teams as well.

Care to compare now?

Pro-Evo gets my vote. I went and got a XBox 360 controller for my PC and now it OwnZ.
