Figuring out speed during construction.

Does anyone know how to figure out the speed of the train in no limits before your done constructing your coaster. Because I am tired of making really cool coasters but them failing half the time because the train won't make it over an element.

you could connect the track halfway while building and then ride it to see if the g-forces and speeds are correct.

Put the track as a shuttle to test the elements, and then once you have completed the full curcuit put it back in continous mode. Just test it in shuttle mode.

I am in physics now in school and there is a formula I think it is-

D = V1 (T) + 1/2 (A) T2

It would help to actualy tell people what the letters stand for. Also simple physics equations (equations of motion) wont work here....you have to take into consideration momentum and external forces acting upon the train

Distance = Velocity1 x Time + 1/2 x Acceleration x Time2

Plug it in.

why do you need the speed???

as long as it does the element withing Glimits you're fine...

And that's where you're worng hyyyper. The G's may be in check, but it could be the most uninterseting element ever. Pacing is a big thing when it comes to coaster design. BTW just hit c to connect it the hit f5 to go to the simulator.

It won't tell you the exact speed, but you could connect the track in the editor and then do a test run using the stoplight icon. You could see if the train makes it, then test the pacing in the simulator.

i don't get it either??
i just run the track in the sim after each element and check for G's and if the speed isn't under 30kph...as einstein said speed is relative

LOL! Just a simple guy that isn't really experienced with nolimits ask how to test the g's while building and you guys start to talk about high leveled calculations [lol]

Back to the equation thing i was reading the NL help and the gravity is different each time you ride a coaster and friction and drag are random so you can't exactly figure out the speed to the decimal place, but i guess i will just end the track and see how it does.

I've read to simple ways to test your pacing and speed in the sim. I find the just putting it in shuttle mode and riding it in the sim is easiest for me, It gives pacing, speed and G forces and you can test as often as you want. Its not that hard :p

Edit- you said you have to trash tracks because a train wont make it over the element? just change the element and make it smaller, you don't have to trash a whole coaster cause one thing doesn't work lol

here's how i make fitting elements,

just make the element you want in a new file, and put a launch track in front of it, then figure out which speed you need to launch it and the speed it exit's the element, and you know what lauch speed you need for your next element...

[lol] Made me chuckle. Sure the Gravity would be different if the coaster was 7000km above the Earth, however under around 50,000ft the force of gravity is a constant 9.81 newtons. Gravitational force can change (G-force) but gravity cant. As for Dirk saying complicated forumla...[lol] That is very very basic formula

maybe it's basic, but peeps who never saw those forumulas it might be complicated [;)]

Also hyyyper, your way of making an element and find out the launch speed is a really weird way! IMO, the best option is, quickly connect the track on full circuit and ride it. Doesn't it make it. Lower some hills...

it works with hills, not with complexer elements...to bad
