I rode 4 times...it was somewhat fun but not particularly great in any areas. I did enjoy it though, overall. Found that "top 10" poster in the station to be really funny though haha.

Too bad though. Hopefully they replace it with something good!

wow.. this is news to me. i guess i need to try and make it down there sometime this summer to ride one more time. hate to see it go, but can definitely understand why they decided to do it. this was an EXCELLENT ride back in the early days, before all of the re-profiles and trims. i have yet to ride something that feels so out of control as this thing once did.

enjoy your rides on it today, SFF. wish i could join you down there, but i have to work.

Luckily I'll be going to Coasterthon in September, which is going to be dedicated to the Giant.

They're tearing it down? When did this happen? I thought they were just extensively renovating it.

And for those who have no idea of what this ride is (like I did not until now [|)], I thought it was Rattler...which MUCH more deserves to be taken down than this amazing ride [:(!])

Here:

there are many on youtube. here is one. the first half is now somewhat painful, depending on where you sit. notice how they now slow it down to a near stop at the top of the lift and on the brake run, the trim on the first drop, and most important, the removal of the awesome double up turn before the mid course. after the midcourse, it is trimmed heavily. the train crawls through the helix around the lift hill. the final run around the structure is painful, but is still a lot of fun... it's the best part of the ride (along with the drop off of the mid course, if you are sitting in the back seat).

still though... even today, if you catch it after a good rain, the ride is very good. that has always been my experience anyway. i am also curious about what they plan to do with this. are they going to refurb it? or replace it? anybody know?

I will be stopping by there on June 7th for a quick spin as well, just before I head off to Los Angeles for work (and to meet up with Oscar and Jayman at KBF on June 10th).

Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

Ah, so they are going to do a 1 1/2 year renovation???

Sounds like what nearby local Burger King is doing "We are renovating"...

And there is just an empty lot [lol]

Hopefully they are not going to do that when they say "renovating" lol...
