I know there are people on this site who, like me, are band geeks. I thought it would be fun to create a thread about our most memorable band experience.

I graduated from Mount Miguel in 2001 and played the sax in the band all 4 years. My most memorable was our '99 field show "The Who's: Tommy" That was a very fun show and won us a lot of top awards and a lot of standing ovations. The best show we did that year was at the district field show exhibition at Monarch stadium at Monte Vista.

I am a senior at Vanguard High School in the class of 2011, and I am classically trained pianist as well. I joined our school's marching band literally because our band director NEEDED me to join, and I've been a keyboard percussionist ever since. My favorite show we've done so far is "Quidam", and we went to state with it. I was percussion section leader that year, and our percussion received Superiors overall while I was in charge of it.

In order of what I play:

1. "Atmadja" - Xylophone
2. "Ninkou Latora" - Marimba
3. "Quidam" - Bells
4. "Incantation" - Bongos/Congas (whatever the hell they are called)
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Well... My senior year in HS I was feature Trumpet soloist throughout Marching Band and in Symphonic Band. I played Leroy Andersons "Trumpeter's Lullaby" and received a standing ovation. I decided I enjoy music so much, why not make it my life. I am currently a senior music education student at The University of Akron. I play in several ensembles, and have been feature soloist and Trumpet Section Leader in Ohio's Pride The University of Akron Marching Band. I was also lead trumpet in Jazz Lab along with featured soloist. I will post more stories some other time...

I was a trombone player for 3 years, and my senior yearI was a Drum Major. My favorite show was my freshman year ('06-'07) which was James Bond Themed. It was quite incredible. Second favorite would have to be my senior year show, which was "The Beatles". Now that I'm in college, and The Best Damn Band In The Land is kind of hard to get in to, I'm not in band. But I'll be trying out again this year, and with any luck I'll get in! I'm also going to try out for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps for my second year on Baritone in the fall.

I was the Owosso High School Trojan Marching Band during my sophomore-senior year since freshman have their own band and aren't allowed to be part of the TMB. We were around a 180-190 piece Big Ten style marching band with a new halftime show every week. I definitely think learning a new show every week kept it from getting overly boring and it kept things fresh for sure, but having to rememorize music every week sucked. Out of all the shows we did my favorite was probably the show we took to festival my sophomore year which consisted of James Bond, Jesus Christ Superstar, and a few others that I can't remember.
