Check it out, it's free until the end of this month. See if you have some use for it. It looks pretty cool but only you can determine if it is good or not.

Enjoy,

Yeah, just finished downloading all of the free stuff, and am currently in the couple hour long process of backing up all of the installers.

I just realized that the DAZStudio is just a giant scam because you need to buy all the stuff like figures and crap.

I actually uninstalled the character maker. I do like the object creator though.

Which one? Hexagon 2 exports to 3D Studio (3ds).

Well I got Bryce running...the rest I've yet to install (but have downloaded). All I can say is that it looks cool, but I'm not that great at using it. It seems like it doesn't have a good sense of scale...like it would be great for random terrain but not for coaster-fitting terrain. I can't really get a good feel on how to size the terrain I just placed, and I can't really get a good feel on how to properly shape the terrain to my coaster.

I suppose I could import the CK file and use the EDIT thing to manage the terrain, but I dunno. It's not as easy to see the angle you want as it is on SketchUp. You really have to fiddle with the camera controls. And after that you won't know if your object is to scale.

I dunno I just might not be used to it yet. Looks cool though...powerful indeed.

Haven't touched the others yet.

So has anybody tried using Bryce for fitting terrain to a coaster?

I've been trying and it's near impossible to do properly. Do you just have to sit there and fiddle with the heightmaps until it fits or what? I've been wanting to put some Atlantis Adventure-style cliffy things on my new ride and it's not going smoothly.

I wish I could get a heightmap of the coaster track, to where then I would just add some darkness then import into Bryce so it creates terrain that matches but is a tad lower for clearances, then edit it from there. But it seems that at the moment I have to hand-create this heightmap and it's pretty annoying.

Anybody out there that has used this software for NoLimits?

I've got all of it installed, but haven't even bothered figuring out how to use it. Never used "real" 3d software before, so it's all completely foreign to me [:(]

I haven't tried it at all, in fact I don't think I've ran the program since Oscar made this thread.

The problem is that making terrain in Bryce is a lot easier and better than SketchUp... except in the regard I've posted about. I don't really want to go to SketchUp but I may have to.
