Yeah yeah, it's all good saying "lets slap ice up where it's melting", but how much energy is that gonna take eh? your gonna need so much ice to replace the melted ice!

And yes, it's good that you've cut down on your polution (or so some say), but dont moan if the effects aren't instant- things simply aren't that simple.

So you think it's the earths natural cycle? There are way too many coincidence to prove otherwise.

Dont be ignorant either- it's obvious to see that it's getting hotter. Temperatures are record breaking in England.

We have to start acting now. We can see that global warming IS now, so think of yourself and your children (and so on).

Actually, if Global warming was happening quick enough, then England and the rest of Europe would start to get colder. The Ice caps would melt, making the water less salty, causing the Gulf Stream to dissapear, which would mean no more tropical water to heat Europe up.

Archy, I'm sorry mate -- but you have earned a severe eye roll with this:

Come on fellas, it is the summer. Talk to me when it is 90 degrees, in England, in January, and I might be inclined to actually listen to your ramblings.

Also, as far as this:

What would you like us to do? Stop burning fossil fuels? Sure, right after you stop using electricity and gasoline. Get the lantern oil, wick, and flint man --- you are gonna need it.

I like the heat, it's better than it being all cold and crappy outside. So what it's been about 35 degrees (about 97 f) here for the last couple of weeks, I have a pool and the extra heat does a simply amazing job of keeping it warm. This extra heat is a rare luxury in England for me, and it's seems that all people do is piss and moan and have stupid debates over the whole thing. Plus it makes driving more fun on the melting roads, I managed to pull off an awesome power slide round a corner on a country lane, of course I didn't mean too and made Rachael scream in my ear, but it was worth it

the reason us Californians are freaking out is cuz we never knew what hot and heat combined felt like [lol] We're dying out here! I certainly am dying [lol] Ahhhhhhhh someone just shoot me, piff and at work it's like 20 degrees warmer and another 10 more behind the glass where I sit at and sleep [lol]

Yeah, us Californians are used to dry heat. This stickiness is unpleasant!

But ok folks. The earth is ~ 4.6 billion years old, multicellular organisms starting showing up ~1 billion years go (this is when the atmosphere we know now STARTED to evolve). Civilization is about 6 thousand years old. Accurate and consistent weather records date back only several hundred years.

What makes us think we know what's 'normal' for our planet? Our history spans just the tiniest fraction of a fraction of the history of life on the planet which itself is less than 25% of the Earths total history.

I'm not saying global warming isn't happening, and I'm not saying we aren't helping it along by pumping out green house gasses. BUT we're foolish to think the weather as we know it will ALWAYS be that way. We should know better. ~40,000 years ago the Sahara was a rain-forest.

So buy seafront property in the Sierras! It isn't yet, but it will be. And by then it might be a tropic zone too!
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

We can actually accurately predict how the weather was up to thousand's of years ago through sampling the air bubbles in ancient ice formations, ie glaciers. However thats still a very small time in comparison to how long our Earth has existed, so yea, there's no truly proven evidence that this isn't normal. That's why scientists are using other approaches to proving global warming aside from the usual it's getting hotter than before approach.

well after this forum i honestly dont know what to think.

-It's just seems too easy to say it's the earths naturaly cycle. I get that oneday we'll all be absorbed into the sun, but surely pumping millions of tonnes of greenhouse gasses into the ozone doesn't help.

Being English and all, we have crazy weather. But i know the weather like the back of my hand- and this isn't normal. I'm not moaning about it, i actually like it. I'm just worried about how hot it's going to get!

Tcon, sorry old mate.

We dont. But i think that thousands of years ago, people weren't filling the air with pollution and crap, thus the current status is probably not 'normal' (normal being how it was lotsa years ago when there wasn't much of a human race...)

@WWS; Its kinda sad to know all those places might dissapear sometime.
